Aibu - internal interview cancelled a few days before

As above, I had an internal interview scheduled for next week. It’s now cancelled. HR did say the job was still going ahead but due to a business need (or something) it’s now not going to happen and a new date isn’t set.

Should I take it at face value?

Whole company has had a major restructure (no jobs lost and a few created) and the job is currently filled by someone as a seconded. She’s stated she doesn’t want the job on a permanent basis.

I think they want to create another job for a person who is currently on another team as a senior position but they perhaps want to make a job for her?

Also sometimes it’s easier to create a new role and hire a person into it as a promotion. I’ve seen roles being canned, and replaced by new ones with the JD written by the candidate themselves so that they’re guaranteed to get it.

That’s why I always try to speak to the hiring manager before applying internally. most have been quite open as to whether it’s a real interview or just ‘procedure’.

This is a real interview as manager told me to apply…. Also the position already exists.

Interview was this week but I do like be anxious.

So it could be something has happened to the interviewer - I was meant to be interviewing people the day after my dad died as was my boss - when I rang to say I wouldn't be in my boss had also gone off sick - I don't know if they got two other people to interview the same day as planned or if they rearranged it - sometimes shit happens all at the same time

Or the interviewer testing positive for covid - or several other people testing positive and them having to cover the actual work so can't do the interview
