AIBU to be cross at teacher?

Son (year 3) had first day back in school today. Spanking new and "school logo branded" uniform, so not only expensive but not just a quick nip to Asda/Sainsbury's to replace.
He is covered in paint that will NOT come out. 😭
Am I wrong to think the teacher is a) fucking stupid or b) is a shareholder in the extortionate uniform shop.
Could a better activity not have been planned?
Grrrrrr 😤🤬

Its probably worth mentioning the paint doesnt wash out. Some brands of cheap school ready mix paint wash better than others.

CatMandarin · 02/09/2021 19:26

Did you soak it in cold water and stain remover before washing it in warm water or set a cold prewash with stain remover at the beginning of the cycle?

HunterHearstHelmsley · 02/09/2021 19:27

I think its fair to be annoyed. Its a bit daft to use paint that won't wash our with little kids! Fucking stupid may be a tad far though!

This is MN though so you'll be crucified for daring to say a teacher isn't anything other than an angel.

DoctorSnortles · 02/09/2021 19:29

How nice. It’s the 2nd September and a member of my profession is being berated as ‘fucking stupid’ on Mumsnet.

zingally · 02/09/2021 19:43

A year 3 is MORE than capable to think "maybe I should roll my sleeves up/take my jumper off."

Be cross with him, if anyone. NOT the teacher's fault.

GintyMcGinty · 02/09/2021 19:45

Its ridiculous that schools are still insisting on these expensive uniforms.

Do they not get overalls to wear for painting?

I get why you are cross.

Babyiskickingmyribs · 02/09/2021 19:50

Just keep sending him to school in the paint covered uniform. It’ll probably wash out over a few washes and be replaced with pen stains or playground tumble holes or something.

KeyWorker · 02/09/2021 19:52

YABU to call the teacher fucking stupid. Painting sounds like a fun activity to ease them back into the routine of the school day.

YANBU to expect the school to use water based poster paints, they are much more likely to wash out. You can’t expect them never to do painting activities though.

Sometimes it seems teachers can’t win, don’t get rid of the stained top, do carry on using it.

Yummiliscious · 02/09/2021 19:55

Wow talking about over exaggerating! Calling a teacher stupid because your child has paint on their top. Why don’t you email the school and ask them to exclude your child of any messy activities!

CoronaPeroni · 02/09/2021 20:00

I think you are just trying to shift the blame! I'm presuming your 7/8 year old is nt so why didn't he wear an apron/take his jumper off/roll his sleeves up/just paint on the paper like most children/go and wash his hands if he was getting too messy?

MyCatIsAFuckwit · 02/09/2021 20:11

The children where hand painting. No aprons provided.
Started wearing jumpers then as the afternoon got warmer took jumpers off. So branded shirts AND jumpers covered. Not just my kiddo.
I will accept that I am being unreasonable though.
I work in a school myself (different to the one my child attends) and this school does provide aprons (asked to bring in an old adult shirt for messy activities)
