Is the unreasonable wear and tear should I take them back

I brought these shoes on the 5th of august so about 4 weeks ago I’ve only worn them like 3 times today I noticed this clearly I’ve scraped them on something but surely they should be able to with stand some wear and tear better.

No escalator or hitting anything will leave them and not get another shoe from there annoyed as I normally have great shoes that can handle a few scuffs and not start peeling

Do you have a spinny chair on wheels? It looks like that is what has caused it. It’s not west and tear.

Lunchish · 03/09/2021 10:30

Yes I have a spiny chair but my front feet don’t ever really touch it only my heels

I have shortish legs and find that on an office chair I tend to sit with the points of my toes on the floor and have damaged a couple of pairs of shoes in the same way you have by doing that.

LawnFever · 03/09/2021 10:35

If the sole was falling off or they’d come unstitched I’d take them back, but it looks like you’ve scraped them so no I wouldn’t - it just looks like you’ve been really rough with them somehow.

ELCismyspiritnana · 03/09/2021 11:06

The problem seems to be that the sole of the shoe doesn’t sit proud of the toe leather, so when you walk your foot will naturally rub at the front and in this case it will rub the leather rather than the sole. I think it is the style of shoe that is the problem.

That being said, if you have only worn them 3 times I would take them back to the shop and argue they are not fit for purpose. They can see by the soles they haven’t been worn much and it’s pretty obvious what has caused the scraping.

It will depend on the shop manager but make sure you point out the lack of wear on the sole and stress the point that this was caused by normal wear and so the damage is not reasonably expected compared to their use. Use the phrase “not fit for purpose” and don’t accept an exchange to another pair of the same style.

They look like you have been on a swing and stopped the swing with them...
It's a scrape rather than walking

FannyBrice · 03/09/2021 11:30

Take them back , i wouldn't be happy

How many feet have got? 🦂

Have you been kneeling down in gravelly carparks? That's what did mine in. Blush

OneTC · 03/09/2021 11:51

I reckon they're a tiny bit small and this has pushed the leather forward at the toe and now the leather hits the ground as your foot leaves the floor

Chikapu · 03/09/2021 11:57

Do you have a dog/cat/rabbit? They look like they've been bitten to me.

Yes I was going to say has a pet chewed at them?

If not, I would probably try to taken them back as shoes should last longer than 3 wears.

ZealAndArdour · 03/09/2021 12:04

I think they’re a very soft delicate leather and probably not stood up to day to day use.

Lunchish · 03/09/2021 12:14

No pets at all

They don't look good quality at all OP! I've had horrendous quality shoes from Jones and they are hard work getting them to be refunded.

Seeline · 03/09/2021 12:25

Are they leather?
Did you give them a good polish with proper polish (stuff from a tin not a wipe) before you wore them?

Kuachui · 03/09/2021 12:44

I would email them with photos and explain the issue and how as a customer you arnt happy with the quality. Don't try don't get.

Loudestcat14 · 03/09/2021 12:45

Did you buy them online? Jones the Bootmaker got bought out by Paver Shoes and now lots of cheaper shoes are sold through the JtB website that aren't nearly as nice quality. I sent a pair back that I ordered thinking they were JtB because they just looked really cheaply made. It was only afterwards it clicked that they were Paver shoes.

Hemingwaycat · 03/09/2021 12:48

I’d take them back personally. Just saw the price on the website, there’s no way I’d expect £60 shoes to look like that after wearing them 3 times.

Hemingwaycat · 03/09/2021 12:51

Should also add that I bought £50 jeans expecting them to last a long time and they ended up tearing on the bottom so not even along the seam. No idea how it happened because they weren’t too tight by any means. I’d worn them lots and had them for about 6 weeks but expected them to last longer than that. I asked the company for replacements and they sent some without question. I think you should return and be offered a replacement pair.

Yes I reckon the toe has been stretched out over the sole too. It no longer sits in position and should be flush. They’ve defintely been scraped though.
MyMummyHasGotABigBottom · 03/09/2021 13:29

You have scuffed them. That’s nothing to do with the manufacturing or the quality of them. I used to work in numerous shoe shops and there is no way I would take these back. Buy some polish and brushes and sort them out. It’s not the shops fault you scraped them, whether you can remember doing it or what your job is.

Honestly even suggesting you take back a scraped shoe is beyond cheeky.
