To think Matt Hancock and that Gina woman are a disgrace?

Going off for a romantic break and making sure the paps were tipped off so we can all see how ‘together’ they are. Talk about rubbing his wife and her husbands noses in it. She looks unbelievably smug as well! What a piece of work she is.

I reckon they are actually madly in love and will go the distance. They’ve known each other for many years, so know what they’re getting into. Both chose to leave their OHs. Often with affairs I’ve known about there’s one party who is much more up for making a go of it than the other and only one person wants to leave and get together.

Obviously affairs are devastating for those who are left. But they are so so common. Sometimes the culprits are awful people, sometimes they aren’t.

HeartsAndClubs · 02/09/2021 18:59

It was having to wake his kid up to tell his family the affair was going to be in the press the next day. Honestly, I hope he never has a minute’s peace for the rest of his life., well, while he was responsible for the affair, he wasn’t the one who published it in the tabloids. They bear some responsibility here for the damage done to his children by finding all this out in the press.

As for MH, I can’t get worked up about it. Affairs happen, marriages end, and sometimes people move on. None of us knows what went on in either marriage.

SadinOxon · 02/09/2021 19:25

I agree with your comment. Just one thing on your final paragraph though - in my opinion, we're weirdly casual about affairs as a society. I reckon we seriously underestimate the damage they cause to the victims, especially kids. It's strange that we wrap up our children in cotton wool in all sorts of ways, but when it comes to affairs we just shrug our shoulders and tell them that they have to deal with the fallout as best they can. Pretty sure in lots of cases kids suffer irreparable harm. We shouldn't turn a blind eye to that!

If Matt and Gina are genuinely in love I wouldn't begrudge them that. My own gut reaction to their affair is much less positive though. I think they've treated their (ex-) spouses and children with really astonishing cruelty. Those photos today and the impression that they're rubbing their exs' noses in it didn't sit well with me. Just my own 50p though.

MyOtherLifeIsAFairytale · 02/09/2021 19:30

Who gives a shit??
2 adults had an affair. Busy workplace, long hours, who the hell knows the state of either marriage of the parties involved etc. (and rightly so - none of my business).
Do I "condone" affairs? No. You clean up your crap at home first, before you move on to the next partner, but shit happens.
Why is he fullnamed and she's "the Gina woman"? Why do you care so much?
People have affairs all over the place - these 2 were just in the public eye. Big whoop. World's got bigger problems and alpacas named Geronimo - don't give a toss about that either.
Focus on the big issues, for god's sake. Not who's hiding in a ski chalet.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 02/09/2021 19:32

Sorry but this is delusional. Highly unlikely that the two shat on spouses and their kids are having a happy time.

Not delusional at all, one of the best days of my life was when my ex left me for his mistress. Like a weight had been lifted.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 02/09/2021 19:35

Why would they be rubbing it I?
At least they went to to arse end I’m of nowhere, an small Swiss place no one has heard about.

ClemencyDemency · 02/09/2021 19:35

Look on the bright side, OP. You're not going on a romantic mini-break with Matt Hancock.

OKKaren · 02/09/2021 19:35

Well that’s just it isn’t it @SadinOxon ? It would be one thing for them to have been photographed by a sneaky pap whilst popping to the local shop for a pint of milk. But for them to have gone off on a ‘romantic break’ and invite the press, only two months after all this came out and their spouses and children’s lives were turned upside shows that they really don’t care about the hurt they’ve caused them. They could have waited a few months at least.

His older kids are teenagers as well and will access to social media and the internet, these last few weeks will have been horrible for them.

^Nope, all the responsibility lies on Hancock and his mistress

I tend to agree with this. Parents who leave their spouse for someone else often tell themselves comforting lies about how it's all fine really, no lasting effects.

bellabasset · 02/09/2021 19:41

If neither of their spouses suspected they were having an affair then that knowledge would have been a shock as well as them having to cope with the publicity They also were left to deal with the upset they caused their dcs, imagine having to deal with that as a teenager at school.

Yes he knew the camera was there but it was originally positioned outwards but moved. What I want to know is who the whistleblower was who moved the camera. Was it someone with a grudge who'd left Downing St, who was watching the footage and if it was done remotely.

OKKaren · 02/09/2021 19:51

I assumed the whistleblower was Dominic Cummings? Someone obviously knew what they were getting up to in his office though and that’s why they were spying on him. Clearly the affair had been going on a while and was known about within government. They’d been photographed together at events for two years!

Rubbing it in because they invited the press. No need for that in my view, not nice. Just have a quiet holiday with your friends.

That’s nonsense - the papers are there to sell stories. That’s the risk you take when you’re in the public eye, the media owes his family nothing.
ChardonnaysPetDragon · 02/09/2021 20:03

Rubbing it it would be Verbier.

Not Villars that few people have heard about.

ThinWomansBrain · 02/09/2021 20:03

£87 a night - splashing out then - outrageous.
step up from the stationery cupboard or wherever they were at it before I suppose.

Have you seen this it made me chuckle

As high as your horse maybe? You make it sound as if no one on MN separates/divorces/LTBs ever ever ever if they have children.

DarceyDashwood · 02/09/2021 20:08

The main thing I took from the new pics was fancy leaving your millionaire husband and father of your kids for someone who wears Crocs on holiday?

Bluntness100 · 02/09/2021 20:10

I’d be very surprised if they tipped off the press. Irs much more likely someone saw them and they did. You’re jumping to conclusions

And they’ve not ruined six kids lives for gods sake. Stop being so dramatic. Yes irs unpalatable and uncomfortable but the kids will get used to it and I’m sure they will maintain the parenting relationship.

Really you need to get a grip of yourself, relationships break down, people meet other people, yeah they cheat yeah it’s shit but blaming the woman and coming over all dramatic about people you don’t even know is odd.

Milkbottlelegs · 02/09/2021 20:11

I honestly don’t know how people find the energy to get worked up about the private lives of people they don’t even know.

Bluntness100 · 02/09/2021 20:14

Actually I just looked at the pics, they clearly didn’t invite the press, someone’s photographed them and sold the photos.

Whatafustercluck · 02/09/2021 20:14

Judging by the way he fumbled her like a teenager behind the bike sheds with a girl for the first time, he'd be shit in bed. Mrs H is well shot.

Way way too invested in people you don't know.
NameChangeinHaste · 02/09/2021 20:49

First thought…. No way that hotel is £87 a night… maybe there’s a room available for one random Wednesday night in April!
