If I didn’t meet my friend today?

I am meant to be meeting a friend today and sharing a car. We should be in the car for approximately 35 minutes and spending the day together in the city. However she has been complaining of a painful sore throat and her sinuses being congested. I am meant to go on holiday on Monday and require a negative test - I don’t really want to inadvertently catch covid if I don’t have to and would carry the same precautions if I wasn’t travelling.

She has taken a lateral flow which has come back negative however I know there is a chance it could be wrong. I really want to meet her but at the same time, if she’s displaying these symptoms, should I risk it? Thanks

Yes carry on isolating as much as you can, I wish I had! I'm currently at home with covid and was meant to be on holiday right now but got symptoms 2 days before the flight and had to cancel. Gutted! And no idea where I caught it, hadn't seen any friends or family but had been to work.
That’s so awful. I had already said no to myself for meeting her with these symptoms and I’m so glad I did. She tested positive eight times today (she wanted to make sure they were accurate Hmm) and is now awaiting the results for her PCR test.

I have ordered a PCR test for piece of mind and awaiting the results for that. I hope you can go away soon!

@SolitaryTree

So glad you decided not to meet up so you can enjoy your holiday! I’ve booked our first holiday abroad in what will be 4 years for next summer and if (and I highly imagine it will be) the testing is still a requirement then we will be pretty much isolating for 10 days beforehand. I don’t think it’s worth the risk of not being able to go.
Totally agree! I knew I wasn’t overreacting! Here’s hope that we’ll both go Wine.
