AIBU to expect a pay rise after 7 years at the same company

I have worked a second part time job since 2013. I or anyone else in the same job role have not had any increase in pay. I have recently found out the company pay £2 more at different location less than 2 miles away for exactly the same job.

I was thinking of writing an email to management outlining this & how undervalued I feel. Also how pay has not even increased in line with inflation. Then getting others to send in a similar email if they wish.

I spoke to a friend about this & they said I should join a union and raise it that way. They said if I raised it myself I could be open to disciplinary action.

What would you do?

Can't hurt to ask yourself

Arrange a meeting with your manager rather than write an email

Now is the time to do it. Lots of vacancies in the job market and lots of employers finding it tough to recruit.

@Zararose9x

YANBU, but maybe unrealistic.

My DH hasn't had a payrise in 10 years, except the cost of living rise.

Ask for a meeting with your managers and raise the issue face to face. They can not give you a disaplinarary for asking.

Zararose9x · 01/09/2021 23:52

Yes I think I will ask for a meeting a gauge what to do from the response. I get paid hourly and the rate as not changed despite rising living costs!

It's unreasonable not to have gotten a raise in seven years.
