Been told I'm due council tax support. Pretty sure I'm not eligible.

Got a letter out of the blue from the council saying I'm eligible for council tax support and for an additional Covid payment. I'm not so hot on how it all works but I work four days a week and earn a couple of quid an hour more than minimum wage so I'm fairly certain that's not right.

But at the same time I don't earn loads, I have two kids, council tax is around 15% of what I take home every month so tbh it's a bit of a struggle paying it.

They've issued a new bill with the new figures on it.

WIBU to not query it, make the payments they're asking for under the new bill and put the rest that I'd normally have paid aside until the end of the year then see what's what? If they ask for it I've got it and if not happy days.

Ok so according to the council's own calculator I'm not entitled to any CTS which is what I thought, even though I'm paying more than 15% of my net income on this nonsense. I live in a pretty middle class area and my bent council spends loads of money on bullshit like vanity road and housing projects a lot of the time so I'm just going to keep quiet and hope they don't realise.

Interesting/depressing that I'd be getting CTS in a different area though. I mean my rent and bills and shopping aren't any cheaper 🤷

I think it might be a separate‘Covid’ support scheme for people under a certain income?
