Can my mil join me in England?

Posting here for traffic. Ex DP is from Greece and has temporary settled status. He's been here since 2016 so should qualify for permanent status soon. His mother would like to come and join us in England and she'd be living with me in the beginning.

From what I understand, she would not need a visa as she is the immediate family member of ex dp. Would she be able to apply for an NI number and start working once she arrives? Would the 3 month habitual residency rules still apply?

She is a qualified physiotherapist but her English is probably not good enough to continue as a physio in the UK. She's hoping to find work as a carer at first while she studies English for a year or so. Is there a glaring flaw in this plan?

Now we are not in the eu would her physio qualifications be recognised or would she have to retrain/ take extra exams - on top of learning English

Looks like yes, but she'll gave to apply herself to the settlement scheme before she leaves Greece.

The glaringly obvious thing to me is why on earth you would want your exes mum living with you, or have I read that wrong?

GreekMIL · 31/08/2021 18:26

She would have to apply to the HCPC and they assess people individually from what I can gather. It doesn't mention anything about certain qualifications not being accepted.

@Tickledtrout Thank you for that link. It says that she would have to be dependent on ex dp in order to come. Shit Sad

@Didiusfalco No, you read it right. We get on great and she's the only surviving gp to my dc.

Yes it talks about parents needing to be financially or physically dependent. And therefore not financially independent/ working I presume
