Dd2 has very irregular periods and hasn’t had one since March. She’s still getting stomach pains mostly in her side.

How old is she? Is she sexually active?

Happiestyearofmylife · 30/08/2021 00:11

Could she have Polycystic ovary syndrome?

thingymaboob · 30/08/2021 00:17

Well it could be anything - It could be a primary gynaecological problem like pcos or the amenorrhea could be a symptom of another underlying medical condition. There's no way we should be speculating. She needs to see a GP ASAP. Unless the pain is worsening then A & E is reasonable. I'm a paramedic.

She did speak to a gp and was offed the pill.

There's no way a GP would just give the pill to someone without investigating pain and irregular / missing periods. If that's what they did then she needs to go back and see a different GP.

Happiestyearofmylife · 30/08/2021 00:28

That is what she did said that was the only way she would get regular periods and that it wasn’t abnormal to have irregular ones

But the pain? Pain needs to be investigated.

MrsTulipTattsyrup · 30/08/2021 00:39

Is this the same DD about whose mental health issues you’ve been posting a lot today? Assuming she’s on medication for her mental health, it’s worth checking if this could be a side effect of any meds. Check the packet inserts for a list of side effects.

But really only a doctor can help properly.

Happiestyearofmylife · 30/08/2021 10:33

She’s contacted them again re the pain. They have given her an appointment in three weeks But I was just curious if anyone else had any views.

My periods were excessively painful and irregular from when I started at around 13/14, until I finally had a coil fitted, aged around 40; even when on the pill (of a variety of types) I still had major problems. was apparently not severe enough for PCOS but I still had laser ablation which helped a little for a short period of time before back to weeks of hell every month. However, it was all investigated, even if not successfully dealt with (dearth of funds / research in female medicine as per Hmm ) and so seeing the Dr and keep pushing til you have everything else ruled out is the important point in my waffling
