To think it's stressful not having a decent leadership/PM

What even is the plan for Autumn with the virus? It seems as if no proper provisions have been made for schools and maybe we are just relying on vaccines and hoping for the best? But AIBU to think it feels like there is no actual leadership or sense that we've got a proper plan for anything at the moment and this leads to an uneasy stressed feeling.

He’s going to ‘let the bodies pile high’ as was the original plan. We just have to hope the vaccine limits that to a great degree. Long covid though…

No idea what the changes being made to the GCSE's for the exams next year will be. They might tell the teachers that they should scrap the English/History/Geography section they're about to teach after they start back in September so the teachers are totally unplanned and unprepared but who knows. Can't be surprised though, if people vote for a buffoon what more can you expect?

ZenNudist · 29/08/2021 18:51

We've coped for the past decade. At this point I've given up thinking the government can get their act in gear. Low expectations are the key to happiness.

Getting by day to day is the bset hope.

Katekarate · 29/08/2021 18:56

It feels especially difficult at the moment with the sense of hope that maybe the pandemic is nearly over, but then the doubts, especially because nothing really has been done for schools going back. What is the actual plan if cases go through the roof? Why are we never hearing from the PM about what's happening, just see him in hi- vis occasionally Confused
Also what about the whole food shortages and Brexit stuff? What's being done about that what's the plan

Plan for whatever you need to keep you and your loved ones safe and fed. If you can afford to, make a regular donation (in food or money) to your local food bank.

If you might need healthcare, look at private options if you can afford it. The NHS is far past coping and it's not going to get any better any time soon.

I know it's not specific to schools, but it feels like no one is in charge of anything anymore, so we need to do our best for ourselves and others where possible. It's already clear that food shortages will get worse, which means prices will rise. Also anyone in receipt of Universal Credit will be losing a chunk of their income soon, so even more hardship.

"Huff... Mumble... Something in Latin... Flags..."

That's the plan.

You should've thrown 'alas' in there a few times too...

I said before - limit yourself to what you read in certain press sources, especially social media. It induces fear ("fear sells") and damages your mental health. There's no need for it.

Mumsnet threads can be just as bad as they parrot those doom and gloom articles, so use the hide thread button.

But how long for? What are we all doing, is this meant to be temporary? Are we meant to just accept this without protest or what.

I don't see the PM ever being interviewed or asked what's going on. Rarely see cabinet ministers either. It just feels like we are meant to be going along with chaos all the time. I find it stressful, wonder if others do.

It is so stressful. There was never a plan for anything and there is still no plan. He is happy doing a really shit job. He has money, his mates have money.

Someone I overheard at the start of this sorry mess said that he wants us to be his mates. But we want a leader.

I never thought I'd miss Cameron ...

Katekarate · 29/08/2021 19:11

I have been limiting news TrickorTreacle But it's hard not to wonder what will happen when schools go back, if the food shortages and shortages of things in the shops is going to get worse and what will happen. I think for me it's coming into Autumn raises questions about what next.

There is no plan because no one can predict what’s going to happen, how long the vaccines will hold back the hospitalisations/deaths, whether there will be a new variant etc. Our government isn’t alone in not having a plan, all over the world governments are just winging it. It is unsettling not knowing what’s going to happen, and I think lots of us have discovered we’re not as able to adapt to sudden change as we would have thought we were. I’ve found looking after my friends and family and focusing on the immediate future is much easier than trying to think longer term.
