Pissed off with parking ticket

Stopped where prohibited (on red route or clearway) thats what it said on the notice.
I was there for about max 5 mins before i realised, then OH moved it when he saw other people with a parking notice on their cars. Like i say there was no notice stuck on my car when OH went. I just recieved a letter this moring with the notice saying i need to pay the fine. The actual sign there was quite misleading as it said it was ok to park after 6pm. There was quite a few people there who were arging with the parking attendant who were parked before us who got tickets.

There was no ticket on the car

Just go back and take a photo of the sign.

MrsClatterbuck · 28/08/2021 15:57

Here parking fines are £90 -used to be £60-- but if paid within 14 days you only pay half

SirGawain · 28/08/2021 16:14

This has happenedto me twice. Both times I missinterpeted the signage and it was a genuine error on my part. However innocent I felt I had broken the rules and had to pay up with a good grace.

PissOffZak · 28/08/2021 16:52

@janj2301

There was no CCTV picture on the notice I recieved.

@MadeForThis

It would cost me the same in petrol to get there and back. I've tried checking google maps but its not visible

Kipperandarthur · 28/08/2021 17:11

It’s a cctv camera that monitors the zone. You then get the penalty fine through the post. It’s happened to me before. Nothing you can do if parked illegally.

FleasInMyKnees · 28/08/2021 17:17

Does it say what time you were parked there, can you do streetview close up or Google parking restrictions for that road on the council site

MadeForThis · 28/08/2021 17:31

@PissOffZak Do you know anyone who lives close to there?

SpindleWhorl · 28/08/2021 18:24
@SpindleWhorl
It was after 6
Then appeal it. If you don't have a physical ticket then they must have timed CCTV to check.

It would have been clearer if you'd put this in your OP!

Good luck anyway. Sorry about all the stress.

WhatisanODP · 28/08/2021 18:49

Is it a council or private fine?

I’m guessing council?

Normally you can view their evidence online? You go to the council that issued it, and put in the PCN number and your registration number.

itsgettingwierd · 28/08/2021 20:14

I once parked in an industrial estate that has a football ground.

1hr parking on match days and 2 on non match days.

Was there 63 minutes and got a ticket.

So did 14 other cars.

It was a non match day.

We all said they were wrong and company told us we had to go through proper appeal channels and ticket still stood until then even thought they admitted there mistake.

I just did nothing. Never heard anything.

So I'd email company and say you worked after 6pm which is allowed and ask them to prove otherwise.

SpindleWhorl · 28/08/2021 21:07

If it's red lines it'll be Council (i.e. Local Authority).

BananaMilkshakeWithCream · 28/08/2021 21:14

£70 is crazy!! My mum got one once when some new lines were put up outside my old flat. All she’d done was get out of the car to knock on my door, the car was practically in spitting distance! The traffic warden looked as though he’d been hiding behind a bin and came out and gave her a ticket. She’d been out of the car for about 90 seconds tops, more like 60 I’d say plus the road was a cul-de-sac so not many people came down there anyway! She never even went in my house, just knocked on the door, so unfair.

PissOffZak · 28/08/2021 22:28

After some googling, this is the sign that was next to where I parked.

I said 6pm in the original post but it was actually 4 on the sign, my mistake. However i parked after 6 which the sign says I can??

No the sign says you can park between 9:30 and 4.
icedcoffees · 28/08/2021 22:34

That sign says you can only park there between 9.3am and 4pm and that you need a ticket to do so.

aaaaah · 28/08/2021 22:35

You've got no chance of appealing that. I don't even drive and can see you can't park there at 6pm.

SpindleWhorl · 28/08/2021 22:37

Yeah, it's a rush hour clearway.

You'll need to pay it.

Goofers · 28/08/2021 22:38

I’d have read that as the parking charge and three hour limit only applies from 9:30-4:00 and that after 4 there is no charge and no three hour limit?!

aaaaah · 28/08/2021 22:40

Presumably there was also a red line on the road?

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 28/08/2021 22:41

I can see why it’s confusing. It could look as though you need a ticket within the hours stater, but it’s free after that. But really it means you can only park within those hours (I think). I can see why you and others made a mistake.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 28/08/2021 22:42

Although tbh I’m not sure I’m right as it could equally mean there are only restrictions within those times!

and why no parking on Sundays if it’s to do with rush hour?

OnceUponARainbow · 28/08/2021 22:43

I’d have interpreted same as @Goofers!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 28/08/2021 22:44

It looks as though this is the clear way sign?

It doesn't say no parking on Sundays.

It says Monday-Saturday you can only park there at certain times and that you need a ticket to do so.
