I work in a care setting and we have had
4 residents and two staff members test positive for covid yesterday despite being vaccinated. I'm have been in fairly close contact with all of them with the relevant PPE on obviously but I still feel I may be a risk. My mum has just had a massive rant at me saying I'm ruining everything and how it's just a mild cold and it doesn't matter because people are vaccinated anyway and that she's not going either then. I've already cancelled on lunch with a friend today as I told her the situation and she agreed it would probably be best to rearrange. One of my aunties has a one week old granddaughter and I feel it's probably just best that I stay away. She said that if I can go out to a shopping centre today then I'm hypocritical. Aibu?

I agree with what your saying but is this how it’s going to be your not going to any occasion because your in contact with people with Covid ? If it is then fine but for how long? Me personally I’d just test before the party .

These are the first confirmed cases we've had since March time in our home it's just unlucky that they've coincided with this party. If there were no confirmed cases then I would go. When we get the all clear I will see family again. Our outbreaks are rare thank god.

Agree with your mum about the shopping centre. I certainly wouldn’t be going there either despite masks and social distancing which aren’t really a thing anyway now are they?! Very few masks being worn when I went to a shopping centre recently.
And just because some people may be also walking around the shopping centre infectious is a ridiculous argument.

@GintyMcGinty

Take a test and if clear then go.
This....

It's too late to do a pcr test and get the results back and lateral flow tests are unreliable at the best times.
