Post office tiktoker not allowed to post about job...agree or not agree?

Obviously tiktok has taken over and being a content creator is a job. People get paid for tiktoks/youtube/insta etc so it is in essence a job.

This particular person posted a tiktok about not letting someone get to the door in time and got a lot of flack for it in the comments on social media. They've now been told they can't use the Post Office in any posts, do any posts while working or wear the uniform.... I think this is absolutely right.
There are a lot of posters who wear a uniform and obviously post while at work and these posts take a long time to film. I know some say they go in early etc or do it in breaks but should they actually be posting from work or in uniform? Anyone else think when you're paid for your job it's not a platform? Most companies have a clause in their contracts about social media.
I think this will be the start of companies telling employees not to use their work environment. Anyone else?

she started off well but got way too complacent with it

so i agree.....no more til tok postie. Did enjoy her though,I adore that accent!

bridgetreilly · 27/08/2021 21:43

I don’t understand why a post office worker is in charge of anyone getting to the door.

Do you mean Royal Mail?

And of course no one should be using customers or work in thei social media. Obviously.

Ivy48 · 27/08/2021 21:46

She got cocky…you’re at work to work. The odd post fair enough but also lost job now have a social media policy. She obviously abused this to the max and took it too far.

ADHDmaybe · 27/08/2021 21:50

Aww I like her content, bless her

aiebshsb · 27/08/2021 21:55

Royal Mail loved the free publicity before the Daily Mail took an obvious joke and made a massive negative story out of it. It was clearly a joke, anyone watching knew it was a joke but as so often happens they give you a tiny snapshot of the truth and let the easily persuaded run away with their outrage. I feel very sorry for her, the Daily Mail are scum.

This.

I think posting anything to social media whilst wearing a uniform is a bad idea. I will miss her postie TikToks though, I loved them.

TartanJumper · 27/08/2021 22:09

Most places have a social media policy. My workplace does, we are not allowed to post anything taken on the work site or in uniform. Blanket ban.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 27/08/2021 22:21

Many companies have social media policies that would ban any work related social media. All the ones I've worked for do.

KingdomScrolls · 27/08/2021 22:23

I'd get fired. I'm not even allowed to name my workplace on social media or use my actual name for any social media accounts, that's in our code of conduct.

Yes of course I do. Obviously. I suspect everyone knew what I meant. We always talk about the post office and the Postie rather than Royal Mail. Different for you maybe?

It was a joke

Like everything these days, taken out of context

Completely agree. They were presenting her with flowers and accolades for her TikTok’s.

They’ve now shat on her because she made a joke which had some truth to it!

aaaaah · 27/08/2021 23:03

She's lucky she wasn't fired

Whatinthelord · 27/08/2021 23:06

I thought she was a good advert for them. I agree they got scared off by the bad publicity. They should have stuck by her.

youdoyoutoday · 27/08/2021 23:08

To be fair, we all get fucked off when we see co-workers on their phones, seemingly not pulling their weight..... this is kinda the same isn't it, if not worse because of the amount of time it must take to film, watch, re-film, watch again, post, yada yada yada.
There is no way she's doing all her work in her paid hours plus filming without it being disruptive so why should she get away with it??

This.... this is what I mean. These things take hours so how people say they do it their breaks I don't know.

TikTok postie was great and RM were loving it before the complete overreaction to a joke. She mostly filmed while walking, I don’t see the harm.
