I'm so exhausted, work is so busy at the moment (work in retail in a very busy seaside town) and we are short staffed so constantly feel as if I am doing the job of two people.
Today I just broke, my body feels so tired and I ended up crying because of it. I feel so embarrassed all my colleagues seem to be coping fine and then there's me crying 🙈

Don’t be embarrassed Flowers A person can only do so much and it sounds as if you’ve been pushed beyond your limits.
I hope you are soon able to take some time off or get a rest. Is there any chance of more staff being taken on soon? It’s hard when you are doing too much work & covering for others.

Nothing to be embarrassed about Flowers we all have limits and you reached yours today.

I did the same during the last couple of weeks of term (teacher). Just so much on and absolutely exhausted. Someone asked me something very straightforward really and when they left the room, I just broke down!

Can you have a couple of days off soon to recuperate a bit?

SizeEleven · 25/08/2021 20:55

Are you always tired? I was until I mentioned it, and always being cold to my GP and turned out I had an underactive thyroid.

How many hours are you having to do? And how long are your shifts? Is there any way you can alter what you’re having to do?

I do suffer from an underactive thyroid but had my levels checked recently and all ok.

Honestly I cried last week for the same reason.
House a tip work crazy stretched to the limit with kids, childcare and trying to manage my health problems 😫
I just feel like I'm not winning at life when I'm home m to knackered to go out visit friends etc it's just work then rest up in preparation for the next day. (And Iv recently had a week off)
Your feelings are valid please talk to your line manager about how you feel 🥰🥰
Ps I had a B12 shot last week amd the month before and yes it definitely helps.

Was it you GP/receptionist who told you your levels were OK? They can see the blood results and you maybe within "range" but actually you could be in the middle of the range (eg you could be 18 in a range of 16-21). But you can still be suffering from symptoms. All the GPs see is the figures and if you don't argue the case/say you have symptoms you are just ticked as OK and put back on the file. If I am below 19/19.5 on the range I feel rubbish again. So I ask for a trial at a higher dose...and always it has got rid of the symptoms and yet I am still "within range" at my next blood test...just at say 19.5 rather than 18.

Or if you know all that ^^ and are happy you are at the right level (and sorry don't know your age) perimenopause symptoms include crushing tiredness. I have recently gone onto HRT. (Latest increase in Levo did not shift the tiredness I'd been suffering). HRT was amazing. Like a fog lifting.

Sorry if being boring. Just that of it's a continual tiredness it may be worth a chat with your GP again.

(Oh and not necessarily recommending this, but with Levo increases I sometimes did on my own, so to speak. Upped by 25mcg every other day to see if it relieved symptoms, them I'd speak to GP and they kind of couldn't argue with "I feel better"...just agreed to increase in dose with a repeat blood test to check not gone over).

SizeEleven · 25/08/2021 21:35

And 100% get the crying with exhaustion. Before the HRT I was frequently on tears with it. Just crushing and seemingly endless.

Daphnise · 25/08/2021 21:38

You need to know: if the crying is at home and in private, then that's OK but minimise it.

If the crying is in front of others, it can amount to attention seeking and should be stopped.

And finally crying can easily turn into whining. Don't.

I was exhausted at Christmas and burst into tears in front of a colleague. I sobbed in her arms because of the amount of work I was given. Turns out I had Hypothyroidism but I'm sure it was more than that.

@SizeEleven I’m under a endocrinologist so he does my dose. GP isn’t allowed to change it without endo’s consent so that always slows things down if I do need a dose change.
