Might just be feeling a bit overwhelmed but, our week for a family of 3 looks a little like this ....
minimum of 16 sets of training clothes to be washed. Not including anything else.
3 early starts, up at 5:30 out the door at 6, straight to work home at 7.
3 evenings taken up (including a Friday)
6:30am start on Saturday.
7:30am start on the occasional Sunday
3/4 hours on a Sunday taken up, time varies. We are all active, and all enjoy it, but I am
beginning to think its getting a bit excessive!

Sounds awful. I like down time. But yes why are you the one doing all the associated chores, there are 3 of you?

KohlaParasanda · 25/08/2021 15:20

Provided both parents have equal opportunities to do sport (and to talk about sport and geek out over their training data and spend money on kit and facilities) and the children aren't being neglected in any way it's all fine. My DH and I are both sporty, but when we had children at home I sometimes had to be the unsupportive wife who wouldn't let him take on challenges that would be disruptive to family life or leave me to pick up lots of extra chores. He just didn't see the bigger picture until it was pointed out to him.

Tupperware was never involved.

araiwa · 25/08/2021 15:57

Is Tupperware for packed lunches?

Wash it in dishwasher and leave it on rack to dry or use a tea towel...

Have a separate laundry basket for dirty exercise clothes. It's one or two washes a week..

Hop27 · 25/08/2021 21:26

So the Tupperware is more an annoyance that anything else, there always seems to be Tupperware to put away, on the side, in the sink, on the drainer - I honestly have no idea where it all comes from. (Well I do, it's from all the meal prepping!!)
We have more than enough kit, but it's easier to wash as you go rather than leaving 4 big loads for the weekend, plus uniforms and other clothes.
I love being active, but I was more curious if it's normal not to sit down until 8:30/9 every night and be up again at dawn.

I think you are too fussy about the washing. I went running last night and wore the same shorts for a personal training session today.

And when I do wash things, it's a quick cycle and onto the washing line. It's not really a burden.

Changemusthappen · 25/08/2021 21:30

Surely if this is split between 2 of you, 3 if you have a teenager it's not really a big deal. If, on the other hand, you are doing it all and all other households tasks then you have a DH problem ie. he needs to pull his weight.

insidenumber5 · 25/08/2021 21:31

I think you're being overly dramatic. If you don't like doing all of the washing, divvy it out. If you don't want to do your hobbies, don't do them.

LimeRedBanana · 25/08/2021 21:36

Why am I jumping to the probably totally irrational conclusion that you are pretty much solely responsible for all the Tupperware cleaning and laundering?

Tell me I’m wrong.

wheresmymojo · 25/08/2021 21:38

My hobby is napping.

It has a massive impact on our weekends.

It annoys DH but the cats quite enjoy having someone to nap with.

Taswama · 25/08/2021 22:00

Are the early starts your runs and the evenings/ weekends the activities of your DH /DS? Do you do all the washing of kit and tupperware? Do you fit your life around their activities? What if you wanted to join a running club that met on a night where someone else in the family was already playing a sport?

Our main activity is running, DP and I have been running together once a week while dc are at school and he runs 2-3 mornings before work. I do parkrun with one or both dc on Saturdays. I also fit in a bit of yoga and hiit a few times a week.
We go for a family walk on Sundays.
I wash fitness gear about once a week.
