That the bits that are on the inventory should be in somewhat ok condition?
Our rental came furnished but the mattresses are really worn and filthy, freezer drawer stuck together with sellotape rug black patches although meant to be white ect? Other items broken too which we reported. We of course took pictures ect so they can’t blame us but it is a really expensive rental we couldn’t get cheaper at all that would work with jobs ect.Certain broken things we replaced at our own expense and will take when we leave (we put theirs into storage till that time comes likely a few years though as we are struggling to save a deposit)
I know nothing about what standard is considered ok for landlords but feel a bit annoyed mainly about how gross the mattresses are. Would you ask for them to be replaced or is it cheeky? I understand they won’t get new for every Tennant but I don’t know if it should be out of our pocket because we can’t fit the old ones in the storage unit if we did and I wouldn’t want to throw them away and give them nice new ones as such!
Just wondering whether I’m expecting to much as it’s our first rental.

It's not unusual, unfortunately, but I would definitely ask for the mattresses to be replaced or professionally cleaned at the least.

Lots of landlords are great (our old rental, the landlord was redecorating between the old tenants and us so let us pick the colours - that was so lovely) but lots of them don't give a shit and won't improve things unless forced to.

Always document the condition and send to landlord/agent by e-Mail. This is your protection should they decide that you have ruined their rug etc.
