They keep popping up on MN today. Hardly chosen the best demographic here IMO either.

I find how ugly those trousers are offensive anyway!

Buggerthebotox · 23/08/2021 07:12

Yy to ugly trousers but anorexic- looking young women? Confused. They look lean and slim to me, not "anorexic".

SpilltheTea · 23/08/2021 07:19

Calling a normal body type 'anorexic' is offensive, as are the actual trousers.

CupoTeap · 23/08/2021 07:20

You can report any of the ads to MN and they will sort it

anon12345678901 · 23/08/2021 07:23

They look very lean to me, their obliques are showing, mine do too and I'm not anorexic 🤷🏻‍♀️

spotcheck · 23/08/2021 07:24

It looks photoshopped?

VanGoSunflowers · 23/08/2021 07:24

Is it the way the photo is stretched? They do look on the thin side (and I’m pretty thin myself)

I wouldn’t be offended by them though… just ignore.

Soubriquet · 23/08/2021 07:25

Christ. They look incredibly unhealthily thin. They might not be in real life but those trousers do not help

NashvilleQueen · 23/08/2021 07:26

They don't look like real images. I think they've been elongated to the extent that they look ridiculous

Knittingupastorm · 23/08/2021 07:26

Offensive? How can they offend you?

FlumpsAreShit · 23/08/2021 07:26

I think the baggy trousers and the bit they've cut off make them look unhealthily thin. If you really look I wouldn't say the one with the arm in shot is skeletal.

StrongCoffeAvalanche · 23/08/2021 07:28

The models IMO are too thin and do look very unhealthy.

But please can you explain why this is offensive? Uncomfortable to see I understand, but.... offensive?

LemonViolet · 23/08/2021 07:29

That photo doesn’t look like a real human to me, to be honest. I can’t see how it would sell trousers. I personally don’t find it offensive though, as it’s so badly done it’s not presenting that as an idealised or coveted body shape.

PurpleDaisies · 23/08/2021 07:33

That’s offensively bad photo editing.

Caramellatteplease · 23/08/2021 07:33

They looked photoshopped to within inches of their lives.

Its disturbing some people think such obviously photo shopped bodies are real

dancealittleclosertome · 23/08/2021 07:36

They do look very peculiar, yes.

Seawo · 23/08/2021 07:40

I agree that they are offensive, mainly because they appear to have been photoshopped with the intention of making the models ‘looks’ like they have the proportions of someone with a serious eating disorder.

ShinyHappySummers · 23/08/2021 07:42

I think you're right. The trousers do add to the effect!

I find it offensive that advertisers are STILL selecting people who look unhealthily thin to advertise products to women & girls.

It's not healthy. It fetishises a body shape that's unobtainable for most. It suggests women and girls should aim to take up as little space as possible. It just feels unhealthy to me. They don't look healthy & string they look weak & fragile. Like they need to eat.

Eating disorders are rife among teenaged girls. Still. It just doesn't feel positive to me. I also don't feel the algorithm has directed it at the right group of people here. Those models do not look like they have had children.

Not sure how to report an ad 🤷🏻‍♀️
And a bit disappointed MN have allowed it I suppose.

If you look at their actual website, the images aren't bad at all - it almost seems like they've been distorted in the advert.

I'm only getting ads for alcohol free gin and furniture Smile
