I'm abusing AIBU but I'm desperate.

Does anyone have any tips to relieve PGP, please? I'm almost 29 weeks and it's becoming so painful I can't even do a food shop without ending up in tears. I tried physio with my son and it didn't help at all. I'm struggling to cope now.

My midwife just said paracetamol and hope it disappears when I give birth.

Have you got the tubigrip type thing the physio usually gives you? For around your waist /hips? I ended up on crutches with two of mine sorry!

Serola Maternity Support Belt, Pregnancy Belt, Comfortable Pelvic Support for Waist, Back, and Abdomen, Can Be Used Post-Partum, Labour and Recovery, Relieves Lower Back Pain, Large https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003KTS1OU/ref=cmswwrcppapiglttfabcXCK9CDA1HYYHTWM001P5??encoding=UTF8&psc=1

This was the belt I found helped the most, and I tried a few. The physio I saw recommended this one too

After paracetamol, belly bands, physiotherapists, TENS, crutches and tears, I was prescribed occasional cocodamol. It was the only way I could move.

I was so nervous at the time, but it really did help and DS seems healthy!

Get a referral to a consultant and get some proper pain relief. Midwives are total cows when it comes to pain in pregnancy and like to say PGP 'is one of those things' it isn't, and you don't have to suffer.

Massively reduce the amount of walking you do if you can, keep your knees together when dressing/getting in the car etc and get a really supportive pregnancy pillow for your legs in bed.

I use this band: www.amazon.co.uk/Physiomat-3613042698912-Comfort-Pregnancy-Belt/dp/B00DO3WB9I?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Are you eligible for physiotherapy? I had it weekly for the last few months of my pregnancy as I was in a lot of pain, and it really helped.

And whatever you do, don't push yourself physically while you're in pain. Look after yourself and I hope you find some support with it soon x

Massive pillow between your knees at night. No pushing trolleys or buggies or similar if at all possible. Plastic bag on the car seat so you can turn your whole body instead of spreading your legs to get in an out. Up and down stairs putting both feet on each step (I think you're meant to lead with the least painful side?).

Basically, make a fist, put the fist between your knees, that's how far apart they need to be, as much as humanly possible avoid moving them together or apart.

I also got a giant tubigrip bandage thing that went from mid thigh to just under my boobs from the physio at the the hospital.

I ended up self referring to physio for help. Saw a specialist in pre and post natal health. She was a bloody life saver. Don’t be fobbed off. Paracetamol for that pain is like acupuncture for a severed digit. Angry

Another vote for the serola belt.

I preferred chiropractor to physio - worked better for me.

Codeine is an option (talk to doctor)

Crutches are essential

A large U-shaped support pillow

So sorry you are going through it. I had it for two pregnancies and it was hellish.

Check out the Pelvic Partnership website for exercises and coping advice. Hands on physio and massage from a women's health specialist made a massive difference to me. I found exercises on you tube by various Physiotherapists helped. Hip circles and stretches seated on an exercise ball. Exercises that Strengthen glutes helped the pain most. TENS machine and heat. Ice on your pubic bone for 20 mins once a day to reduce inflammation. Crutches and restricting walking, frequent side lying to rest.

Make sure you see a womens health physio after baby is born to strengthen and heal properly. Best £75 I ever spent seeing a physio PN.

Thank you all so much.

After another night of struggling to sleep because every movement hurts, my lovely friend dropped over a TENS machine. I hope it works.

I have a support belt but I'm going to invest in a better one. The worst of the pain is in my right hip.

I just want this over with now!
