In a sports club today, there were sausage rolls on the specials menu. I asked for one hot to take away.

It arrived in a box (a nice eco friendly box but that's totally irrelevant Grin)

I left the club, walked for a while, found somewhere to stand and opened said box. I picked up said sausage roll and took a bite.

That was about 2 hours ago and my tongue is still throbbing as the sausage roll was so hot!

So...

My fault - I should have thought to check how hot it was before I bit into it.

Their fault - they shouldn't have sent it out of the kitchen that hot.

NB. This question is purely because it's pouring with rain which has hampered my afternoon plans and I'm BORED!!

What makes it worse, is that I only took that first bite as it was quite a naff, fatty, thin pastry (with a soggy bottom), mediocre sausage roll.

So I wasted my money, burnt my tongue and went hungry. Wink

Love to know where you got the sausage roll, every time I ask for a hot one I get at best a lukewarm one - ugh.

Yep you're right you are very bored Grin

This reminds me of my abusive exH. He would get angry with me if I put a hot meal on the table and he just dug straight in and burnt his tongue. The absurdity of it was not lost on me

Icecreamsoda99 · 22/08/2021 19:19

"It's hotter than the sun, Lynn"
I'm bored too Wink

KarmaStar · 22/08/2021 19:56

Was there no adult there to check it for you first ?😀

@tiredanddangerous

You're the reason they print a warning on coffee cups about the contents being hot aren't you?
The famous case is the McDonalds one where everyone always makes a joke about idiots not knowing coffee is hot. The reality is actually pretty interesting, the main points being that an elderly lady got 3rd degree burns (on her groin and genitals) because of a spill that she agreed was her fault, her issue was that the coffee was at near boiling point as it was McDonalds policy at the time to have volcanically hot coffee as “customers prefer it” even though they’d had several hundred previous complaints about their coffee being too hot and causing burns. The lady who was burned sued for her medical costs (approx $20k) and they offered $800 so she said fuck it and sued them for millions (and won!)
