Grin

I like to be warm in Fahrenheit, and cold in Celsius.

Me too! (Use Fahrenheit in summer and Celsius in winter, that is, not think you’re weird). Smile

FinallyFluid · 22/08/2021 17:28

Thank God, was beginning to think I was the only one. Grin

Makes total sense to me.

Hellocatshome · 22/08/2021 17:34

I'm going to guess you are 40 or older? I'm 38 and have never understood Fahrenheit everything has been in Celsius since I went to school.

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 22/08/2021 17:37
Grin I’m 43 and count exactly like this. Temperatures are either “in the 90s” or “below zero”.
BaronessBomburst · 22/08/2021 17:40

I have managed to switch to Celsius but can still irritate DH by calling it centigrade. Grin

OchonAgusOchonOh · 22/08/2021 17:44

Your brother is right. You're weird. Celsius (or centigradeGrin) only here and I'm mid 50's.

CremeEggThief · 22/08/2021 17:46

Being weird is a good thing, right?

emwithme · 22/08/2021 17:50

Yeah, that's entirely normal.

Apparently I am weird because I will say one scone (scon) but many scones (s-cones).

AutistGoth · 22/08/2021 17:57

I'm the same and I'm 31. When it's too hot I tend to say "Urrgh, it's 87 degrees and I'm boiling!" When it's cold I'll shiver and declare: "It's minus 2!"

Also, my usual reaction to being called weird is to be flattered and say "Why, thank you dear! " Grinis

PeskyRooks · 22/08/2021 18:00

Same!
I thought everyone did this! It makes sense to me

Cuddlyrottweiler · 22/08/2021 18:02

What?! Where are you people from?!

Although, I weigh babies in lbs but everything else in kgs.

AutistGoth · 22/08/2021 18:08

@Cuddlyrottweiler I live in England. Smile

Just my way. I accept I'm a bit weird

ShowOfHands · 22/08/2021 18:12

Is it an age thing? I'm not sure. My parents are in their 60s and don't understand Fahrenheit at all. Consequently, I don't either. They've only ever used Celsius.

I can't use kg for babies either. They don't mean anything, yet I use kgs for cooking.

Muddydoor · 22/08/2021 18:25

People are lbs and oz’s ; food is grammes. Apart from when I’m baking, then its oz’s again. Temperature is always •c for me, but I’m an eighties child. Does that make a difference?

DappledThings · 22/08/2021 18:29

Yep that's weird. I'm 42 with parents aged 69 and 73 and none of us would ever use Farenheit. I have no concept of what a temp in the 80s in Fahrenheit feels like.

Only use metric for weighing myself too and the very rare occasions I check the DC. I have absolutely no clue what they would be in stones and have never managed to remember how many pounds are in a stone.

BaronessBomburst · 22/08/2021 18:51

I know my height in feet, buy fabric in metres but then take hems up in inches. I cook in ounces, but weigh myself in kilos.
I can use an oven in F, C, or gas marks.

MrsBobDylan · 22/08/2021 20:45

I got called a nerd today by a Halfords employee. I was very flattered.

Angel2702 · 22/08/2021 20:52

I’m 38 and until a few years ago I think I was the same. Mostly use Celsius all year now but definitely grew up with Fahrenheit being the norm for hot weather in particular.

LadyCluck · 22/08/2021 20:54

You’re not weird OP - you speak my language! Grin

TheVolturi · 22/08/2021 20:58

You are doing it right op! I wonder why we do this? 😂

MsMarple · 22/08/2021 21:08

This is totally normal! I think it’s a mid 40’s thing…

Cryalot2 · 22/08/2021 21:18

I never use Celsius except when we used to go abroad for sunny holidays (remember?) I always would see the temperature in Celsius. I now am more aware of it and sometimes use it. But prefer lb oz and inches . But that said I went to school and was taught tables in old money, to be told forget it .
Not weird at all. Celsius has fond memories of sunny climes for me .

MrsMoastyToasty · 22/08/2021 21:22

When my DM is buying fabric she buys 54in wide but buys 2 metres.

recededpronunciation · 22/08/2021 21:25

Perfectly reasonable. Means everything fits nicely in a scale from 0 for freezing to 100 for really hot. There’s a vague area in the middle where they switch over - but we don’t talk about that.
