Breast implants - are you happy you got then done or do you regret it?

I've always had really small breasts, cup A is sometimes a bit big, tops bras etc don't fit well. I've been considering breast implants for 10 plus years and now that I'm not having anymore children, I'm really considering going ahead with it.

Can you give me your experience/opinions, it would be really appreciated 🙂

@Rafiosa

I could make a list of actors and singers with small breasts who look gorgeous but I think we all know who they are.
theres lots that have medium sized breasts and large breasts too.

When I got mine done it had absolutely nothing to do with trying to look like an actress

Trumpspeach · 22/08/2021 19:39

I have had mine in for 14 years. No issues so far but I know there will be issues further down the line.
I'm anxious over them as I know that they are a foreign body (as far as my immune system is concerned), but overall I've been really happy with them.

Happy with mine but I got an infection in one of them. I had a drain for six weeks.

The procedures to remove the infection were horrific.

Just read up on this and think if you are prepared to. Go through that.

I thought "it would never happen to me" but it did.

I had breast implants at 21 and then removed at 33 due to capsular contracture.

The implants were nice while they lasted but so not worth it in comparison to the issues I had trying to remove or replace them.

Cosmetic surgeons are more than happy to do a first procedure but much less keen to help when things go wrong, I literally came out of some consultations bawling my eyes out.

I have no regrets after getting them removed, contrary to what I was told by many, many surgeons, my breasts recovered fine after finding an amazing (female!) surgeon who removed them and did some internal lifting of my breast tissue.

Whatever you decide to, research extensively before hand, the RealSelf website was really helpful to me and I’d recommend anyone looking to have or remove implants to take a look at women’s stories on there.

@iholdgrudges do you mind me asking who your surgeon was? You can pm me if you prefer. I'm looking for explant and uplift recommendations

iholdgrudges · 28/08/2022 22:19

@funder My surgeons name was Christina Choy, good luck with it all!

I was about 26 when I had mine done, now 50. Went from an A to a C but I was very thin back in those days and have now had 2 kids and am DD. (Or something ridiculous like G if I go with Boob or Bust).

I don't have any regrets. For my age and their size they're still pretty round and full, and while they're not sitting as high as they used to they're not droopy.

I've been in 2 LTRs since and in both cases had to tell my partner my boobs are 'fake' after we'd been seeing each other awhile, they had no idea.

Mine are about 26 years old and although they are fab I am aware they are very old and should be replaced. I don’t have the money to replace them nor do I want to put myself through the operation again. Having them just removed would be difficult as they would literally leave empty pouches of skin I think. They were an impulse purchase and with the benefit of hindsight I do wish I hadn’t had them done.

I had mine removed, after having one set for 10 years, then another for about 8.
Didn't have a lift done, and honestly they look absolutely fine. The skin retracts, I'd had two pregnancies, breast fed, plenty of breast changes and still they just look like small breasts of a 40 something now!
If you'd like them removed go to real self website you can see before and after photos.

Ilovecrisps2021 · 28/08/2022 22:53

I deeply regret mine but I got them for the wrong reasons. I wish they were a lot smaller than they are.
I will be having them removed as soon as I have finished having children - I will need a lift and reaugmentation, and potentially smaller implants depending on the state they're left in.
I think if I had gone smaller I would have been happier. They make me look a lot bigger than I am, became huge when pregnant (think 34g on a size 10 frame), went down to a 32f after breast feeding and now I'm pregnant again are already a 32ff.
I do think if you don't go too big and you're confident in your decision then go ahead. My other worry is constantly thinking I will get ill, a lump won't show on a mammogram etc etc.

I had felt this way for a long time. Sounds silly but watching Gwen Stefani in music videos made me feel quite proud of my flat chest! She is completely flat and is so beautiful and sexy, and would look wrong with a bigger chest. Made me feel much better about myself and glad I don’t have big boobs weighing me down or getting in the way!

Thislife55555 · 20/12/2022 21:39

@Lillygolightly thank you for posting this! I feel
Confident that not having them is definitely the right choice for me, far too risky. So informative I'm glad I read this it explains all I suspected re cancers. I think unless you can afford to chnage them much more Frequently it is too risky.

Mumoffairy · 20/12/2022 21:52

I got it done young at age 19. Im mid thirties now and had 2 kids who were breastfed and they still look great! Best decision ever, it did wonders for my self esteem.
I have 2 friends who got them done after kids and they are both very happy with it too.
Im not in the UK, so cant recommend a place, but thats really the most important bit. Find a good doctor, do proper research, even better if you have personal recommendations. Dont try and save money on it, too many horror stories.
My scars are underneath (not around the nipples). They are barely visible even if looked at closely, but even if there were scars, underneath its only visible lying down lifting your arms. Not sure if i would risk scars on nipples.
