Did she do this so I don't take the job?

I have been offered a job with the civil service, all checks completed and just been waiting for a call back to discuss hours. I got a call today saying that they will be offering me different post, I asked for details and I was given a very brief answer of 'it's just an average admin job, most of the time you'll be sat in front of a computer, doing things like ordering stationary'. She didnt really highlight the job in a positive way at all, just kept mentioning all the negatives such as no parking late days ect. She then paused after waiting for me to give her an answer. I then said I need time to think, she told me to let her know by today.

What are your thoughts?

Good luck, just remember how to spell stationery especially if you are ordering it. Smile

I worked for that department for 19 years and took redundancy 14 years ago. I loved the work, extremely interesting and varied with good opportunities for self-development and career progression. I left because I had an opportunity to go in a quite different direction career-wise.

I hope CFCD is the Cheeky Fucker Checking Department...

As an SCS I'd say take the AO role and make the most of it. Loads of opportunity to learn, develop and progress. Not every dept is as some PPs say but obvs some are.

@Thorgod

Recent arrival to civil service here - take it! Really common to move jobs/roles, much more than i had realised, great acreer opportunities and once in, you're in! So much more flexible etc then other admin/office jobs. Deffo ask about comparable tasks etc though, no need to look like a pushover
once in, your in

Err I’ve been made redundant twice from the Civil Service.

Why are you going to decline? Great opportunity to get inside a huge jobs market with loads of interesting opportunities sideways and upwards. And I don’t recognise the “nepotism” description compared to almost any other employer in the country!

I meant that you can move around into other jobs, and that it is easier to do that from insode than from outside.
