Neighbours rabbit

Hi everyone

We get on really well with next door neighbour But their rabbit pretty much lives in our garden day and night. They have several dogs and cats so it probably enjoys the peace.

We have just had the garden professionally done. The boundary that side is a bush which is their responsibility. It's killing our grass off, rabbit droppings everywhere and most importantly I am severely allergic to rabbits (anaphylaxis/epipen).

I have approached her around 6 times now, she will come and collect it but I shouldn't have to keep doing this. We suggested she gets a run but nothing. I'm not sure how to approach this, I don't want to fall out with her but I don't like using the garden as there's fur everywhere and I have had hives on my legs.

What would you suggest!? Considering sprinklers

Husband has used the hose and water pistols, he has said he will shoot it (he is is joking btw!)

Oh that's poor form on her part. I hope its made her think. I hope you feel better.

@Mmmmdanone

Im surprised it hasn't run away completely. Or been mauled by a fox or cat. Poor bunny. They sound like very irresponsible owners.

Our rabbit was free range too. I think it's cruel to keep them caged or in a small run. But if she knows about your allergy, she smoothed make an effort to keep it out of your garden. Perhaps she'd go halves on a fence with you.

How close do you have to be for your allergy to be triggered? Is her garden far enough away even if the wind blows some rabbit hair into your garden? And how do you manage for walks in fields/countryside? Or don't you?

@MrsFin Usually the allergy is ok outside but due to the containment of the garden and the rabbit being there pretty much 24/7, it's caused a reaction. Pets at home causes a reaction but I'm not sure if that's because the queue is around the rabbit/pet area. So I now send my husband for the cats stuff, My husband picked up the fur that was outside as it's clearly moulting. I don't really walk in fields, we do go to woods but that hasn't caused a problem as I usually wear trainers.

We haven't seen the rabbit since Wednesday evening so it seems like she has realised and kept it in. Fingers crossed the killer rabbit is contained to its own garden.

I totally agree that rabbits in cages have a rubbish life. Sorry, wasn't suggesting they should be caged all the time. But running around out of owner's sight must mean they are in danger of being killed. It would round here- there are foxes everywhere!

If it reappears, you really need to get extremely angry with your neighbour. As @steppemum says, it’s the owner’s responsibility to contain the animal, she will be liable if you become unwell. Maybe a handy threat in that vein will help?

The sheer arrogance of some people!

I don't believe in your diagnosed medical condition so you must be putting it on.

Always comes up in threads mentioning allergies.

Unbelievable that someone has the cheek to claim someone else's condition needs their approval.

There are people dead from this stinking attitude.
