(Light hearted )
Last night my bf was coming over and I was making tea.
I finished work and was running late.
So I went to M&S bought a ready made pasta bake ..put it in my own casserole dish, hoyed more cheese on top and passed it off as my own.
He was none the wiser..am I on a slippery slope here?

I have to comment purely on the word hoy too. Grin

Not a slippery slope, just a busy day. Wink

ChiefAdjusterOfRubensShorts · 17/08/2021 15:15

I’ve done the same! And also use the word hoy/hoyed on a daily basis!

It’s a great word!

merryhouse · 17/08/2021 15:16

You added a layer. That's cooking.

NorthernDramaLlama · 17/08/2021 15:20

Have you read 'Scarlet Feather'?! There is a great part in the story with some very passive aggressive passing off bought in food as home made. Make sure you lose the 'recipe' so if M&S discontinue the dish you can't make it exactly the same!

GotTheDisneyBlues · 17/08/2021 15:23

Tbh @simplysaid** I think it's shocking that you'd do that and pass it off as your own. Start lying about the little things and the big things will follow.

My friend once made me a lasagne and I told DH I had cooked it. I have since learned how to make it!

Just be careful you don’t dig yourself an even bigger hole - like I did. We had friends coming over who are great foodies. I like eating but think life is too short to spend in a kitchen so bought some beef bourguignon from Cook, decanted it into a serving dish and passed it off as my own.

DH was in on the deceit and was very aware of my stiletto heel hovering over his foot under the table should he get an attack of honesty. Unfortunately, the beef was absolutely delish and this couple kept on and on about how great it was and asking awkward questions like how long had I spent preparing it, did I do it a day in advance to get the wonderful flavours and what were the ingredients? The worst one was what cut of meat did I use? Bloody hell!

I kept hoping they would drop it and move on but they then wanted the recipe! I managed to schmooze my way out of trouble by saying I would email it - and yes, I received an email 24 hours later thanking me and reminding me to forward it on. Managed to retrieve the packaging out of the recycling to get the list of ingredients and googled the BBC Good Food site to cobble together the preparation method.

Not sure the stress was worth it!! 😂

Not sure the stress of prolonging the

As a fellow Geordie I feel I need to also make a confession... One that goes against The Geordie Code...
I was asked to attend an art gallery last week...
The weather was dubious....
I took with me...
A jacket..
I am suitably ashamed...
