2 years ago my friends girlfriend (I don't know her )bought two tickets for us as she had priority access.
It was £80 for two and I transferred money straight away.
The tickets arrived and my friend passed them on to us.
In the mean time covid happened and the concert was put back.
In the mean time my friend cheated on said gf numerous times and they had a really bad break up.
Last night we turned up for concert with tickets and they wouldn't work.
Went to box office to find out these tickets had been cancelled 3 months ago and she got a refund.
Is there anything we can do?
I don't understand why she did that to us,it's not like we cheated on her.

Maybe technically she could not book them for third parties. Does "us" include your cheating friend?

randomchap · 17/08/2021 13:16

You could ask her for the money back.

People don't always act rationally when they are in the middle of a painful breakup. She was cheated on multiple times.

ChainJane · 17/08/2021 13:16

Take her to a small claims court. She bought the tickets on your behalf, it's not the same as buying from a ticket tout and finding they have been cancelled for breach of the terms and conditions.

Basically she's stolen your money - whatever the rights and wrongs of her breakup, it doesn't entitle her to steal from you.

Dangernouse5 · 17/08/2021 13:16

She owes you that £80 at least.

You can take her to small claims court for ticket cost and ask for court fee back and cost of travel there.

RoomOfRequirement · 17/08/2021 13:25

Is the friend you went with the one who cheated?

If so I'd be angrier at her really, ask her for the £40 back.

jobbhgg · 17/08/2021 13:39

No it was me and my boyfriend who went.
I'm fuming I won't lie.

What a cunt!

Passthewinebottle · 17/08/2021 13:58

Cheeky bitch!! You must have been so gutted. Do you have her contact info?

melj1213 · 17/08/2021 14:13

Why are you automatically ascribing malice to the cancellation? It could easily just be a miscommunication.

It could simply have been that due to the Covid delay the venue sent out an email to ticket holders to reconfirm their booking for the new date, and anyone who didn't was automatically refunded. If that happened the ExGF could have ignored it as it wasn't relevent to her or deleted it as she didnt recognise the event and forgot about booking the tickets for you

This happened to me this week - I was meant to be seeing a tour of a West End show this weekend but someone in the cast/crew has tested positive for COVID so it has been cancelled. The email said that they would automatically reallocate the tickets for a new date but we had to go to the website to confirm the reallocation or request a refund if that wasn't suitable. If you didn't go to the website within iirc 3/4 days from receipt of the notification your tickets would be cancelled and a refund issued to the card on the booking.

Paulinna · 17/08/2021 14:16

Is she still in contact with you? If not then how did you expect her to pay you back? Just tell her your tickets didn’t work because she’s claimed the refund and ask her to refund you.

Dangernouse5 · 17/08/2021 17:42

You can get her full name and address from your friend

Then send her a letter (it's a letter before action) that you paid her for two tickets to concert. You were given the tickets and arrived yesterday to find she had cancelled the tickets and she had received refund for them. Can she please refund
I hope this is a mistake in your part , please contact me on "email address" to arrange an immediate refund of tickets

However. If you fail to communicate and refund our money, we will take it to court and seek expenses in addition incurred by this.
Yada yada

SchrodingersImmigrant · 17/08/2021 17:47

You could just speak with her by some means like email or text before dragging it to small claims court or letter before action.

For all you know she may have given your cheating mate the money with "here you go now go fuck yourself"... Or she kept them and you got stuck in revenge crossfire. Or it was a miscommunication.
Million things...

£40 two years ago? Honestly, chalk it up to a bad night and forget about it, the cost and effort to try and do anything about it would far outweigh the money.

LunaLula83 · 17/08/2021 18:04

We do not know either
