They're not too bad for us. We have 2 dc, dh is a sahp and I am a supply teacher so don't work during the holidays.
We don't do much to actively entertain our dc and instead encourage them to play with friends, read, watch TV, play on the PS4 for a bit etc etc because I believe that they should be able to find their own entertainment, manage their own friendships and learn that boredom isn't necessarily a bad thing. I also think that they should be allowed down time too.
Having said that, it is important to do things as a family so so far this summer we've been on a short weekend break, had a couple of daytrips to local castles and NT/EH places and we're off to see the world on Friday (a Gaia exhibition is coming to the city closest to us). We've also baked and cooked together.
Our dc, 9 & 10, generally get on fairly well so are happy to play together as well as separately with their own friends so have done a lot of playing out in the garden and on the street.
We have spent very little apart from the £500 for the long weekend away.
