I don't get the AIBU or the voting bit.

But Hooped earrings are fine, and don't really say anything about anyone.I'm not sure I really register people's earrings.

Like these or bigger?

I wear these all the time and no-one has ever said anything (though I wouldn't care if they did). I would wear bigger ones but I'm afraid of catching them at work and being pulled out.

Wear what you want and don't give a toss about others' opinions.

@TwoZeroTwoZero you can get hinged hoops so they open if pulled instead of ripping your earlobe.

Thank you @3Br1tnee. I'll have a look at them. My 2nd piercing is one I had done when I was 17ish but they never really healed. I mentioned it to the bloke who pierced dc 2's ear and he said to get some titanium ones so I've just bought some titanium hoops (as seen in my photo above). They're hinged but I haven't pulled on them because they're still a bit sore from putting them in.

What do you mean ‘chav?’ If a posh person put a pair of hoop earrings on are they immediately downgraded to chav? I don’t like that word anyway to be honest, it’s quite nasty in my opinion.

Just wear what earrings you want.

The faux ‘what do you mean by chav’ is hilarious. Really, you’ve never in your life heard of an item of clothing or jewellery being thought of as worn more by one social class than another? Come on.

I wear hoops.

On US twitter accounts there’s sometimes a bit of discussion about hoop earrings, because the snobby attitude toward them (that posters here have never encountered in relation to an accessory and simply cannot comprehend) has a hefty tinge of racism to it. Socially it’s quite interesting.

What a man. What a line.

I love a big pair of hoops, OP - with a completely plain black dress/black top, jeans and heels they look lovely, I think. And I wear 3 little pairs of huggies on each side normally. They look great with a really plain sleek ponytail or bun - statementy but not bulky.

There is the phrase "The bigger the hoop, the bigger the ho" though, so I do think they're not seen favourably by some people - blame the Kardashians for that!
