So, shared drive way kinda situation behind our two cars is a blackberry bush. A woman from a house that isn’t the neighbour we share the driveway with comes over with a huge stick and a big bucket and picks all the blackberries off the bush behind the cars. She was shoved up against my car and in between the two cars.

Down the side of our house we have blackberry bushes also, I was cleaning our bathroom and looked out the window and she’s on our land standing all over and picking all of the fruit off the bushes. She had a huge bucket not just a basket.

AIBU to think coming on to our side garden so to speak is abit cheeky?

I also wouldn’t make a snack from my rose bush but doesn’t mean someone can come onto my property and help themselves.

Or someone who would like some stones for the front garden and sees mine and thinks oh my garden needs them more so I’ll just take these. That’s not ok.

She also doesn’t know I wasn’t planning on using them this weekend you know whenever I fancy using something on my property which is mine should I check with all the neighbours next time that nobody’s got any plans for my berries? What’s next she lets herself in and takes whatever Out the fridge.

Haha I’ll have to rinse my windowsills the next time she comes.

It’s just she was at our drive way one day and then the next day on our land. What’s next in the house!

@LaurieFairyCake

You wouldn't eat them Shock

Wtf

What's the point in caring then? It's fantastic that they're not WASTED - it's a bloody crime to waste food IMO

when it's not your land, it's none of your business and not for yours to take!
Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 13/08/2021 11:06

Next time tell her to fuck off 🤷‍♀️ nonodea why you haven't already done that.

It's a crime to trespass on someone else's property. It's not a crime to not eat food. Besides, she could have asked for the berries, rather than just pick them.

Put up a price list...

@RedBonnet

I've noticed that Eastern European people think nothing of wandering into gardens just for a look or to pick flowers etc. This happens a lot where I am. It is just a cultural thing.
Ah yes! Because all “Eastern Europe people” are the same and the various countries that make up Eastern Europe have the exact same cultural customs...
VeganVeal · 13/08/2021 11:23

It's a crime to trespass on someone else's property.

Trespass is not of itself a criminal offence. Trespass to land is typically a civil issue and not generally a criminal offence unless some special statutory provision makes it so.

Can you get fences?

Cryalot2 · 13/08/2021 11:32

If you think you know what her language is put a notice on the tree using google translate. Make some sort of sign which it clear to keep away.
Put a mention on your local fb page telling people not to trèsspass and steal from your garden.

Ilikechips · 13/08/2021 11:35

You wouldn’t believe what’s just happened haha two young ish kids scootering about outside my little girl went to the window to say hello (and be nosey😂) the kids just asked if they could pick the berries. I’m talking primary age kids knew to ask. Bless them! Told them to pick away! That’s the difference!!!! And I swear this is the truth haha

Why didn't you ask her to leave or at least take the blackberries back?

Thevoiceofreason2021 · 13/08/2021 11:40

She’s a CF. Tell her to clear off. On a more serious note if she were to have an accident / trip/fall on your land you could be held responsible.

CoraPirbright · 13/08/2021 22:41

Ooh blackberries are delicious but I do agree with you re: the dog pee issue. But that is simple to avoid - just don’t pick anything below hip level!
