To Not Understand Builders/Developers Having Their Own Rules

We live in a very built up area. All this year we've had a large (around 150 properties) development being built on an ex school/playing field being built on one side of our property. Annoying as this is [noise, dirt, blocking of light, etc] they've operated within the planning regulations. On the other side of our property we have another building site. This involves two semi-detached bungalows and nine buy-to-let apartments in a block. On any one day the constructers' vans are parked on double yellow lines and grass verges. The last few days we've had up to nine vans parked on either side of our drive and across the road, illegally. We live on a long, straight, road, where people often exceed the speed limit. It can take forever to get out of our drive because of the inability to judge how safe it is to move out into the road, now all these vehicles are blocking the view from the drive. I don't understand why parking tickets aren't getting slapped on these vehicles when you can go five minutes over a parking ticket and get a fine.

It’s the sub contractors- the trades who come to do various parts of the build. In my experience they aren’t able to walk a few steps to where they’re working, so they just park as near as possible to the site/ house, wherever that happens to be.

I appreciate that some of them may have tool bags to carry, but they could drop them off and park somewhere sensible. They park on sight lines here, which not only obscures the view, but damages the road surface which needs replacing now for the second time.
