To give him the pocket money?

I told 13yo ds I'd give him a fiver for doing the garden. This was cutting the grass that hadn't been done for a few weeks, and doing some weeding and clearing up leaves. This is on top of doing a few jobs round the house, dishwasher, taking bins out.

Just wondering what expectations you would have of how well it's done.

There might be a few bits round the edges not done properly, some stray weeds and leaves! It's far from perfect but Rosie than it was. Dh would probably say he hasn't done it properly I'd say he's given it a good go.

Mine would say it’s not worth doing all that for a fiver!

@BeaLola sure, if anyone needs their chimney sweeping.

£5 is not a lot for this kind of work.

DD has to help with normal chores like taking the rubbish out, clearing and setting table and whatever needs doing etc. That's normal work for everyone of us.

But we "hired" her to clean the car interior in the first holiday week and paid £25 plus a book as a bonus if it was done decently. For £5 she wouldn't even have thought about doing it tbh.

As a matter of fact I do Smile

£5 is plenty.

I'm just thinking of the "help" my DS gives us - usually causes more devastation trying to help us

Mind you he is quite eager to earn £ to help him pay for his gaming pc

I would say for a 13 year old £5 should be about an hours work? (As min wage for a 16 year old is £4.62). So if he's been out there having a reasonable stab at it for an hour-ish I'd give him the money.

Bloody hell, my 13YO thinks I’m a monster because she has to do the dishwasher twice a day/put her own clothes away in order for her to have had the latest iPhone SE on contract Shock which is £35 a month (including insurance).
