To eat dairy milk before 8am? (Lighthearted)

I’m 8 weeks pregnant and have an intense sick feeling in the mornings shortly after I’ve woken up. Chocolate or biscuits are the only things that seem to relieve it. I worked hard to lose weight not so long ago - I’ve got to the stage - I’m eating big chocolate bars unashamedly and just don’t care any more Grin

Not unreasonable but could you get the same fix from a smaller bar? You might regret the choice of size later!

LBirch02 · 12/08/2021 08:05

True I could - I tend to buy really large bars but just eat small chunks at a time - not the whole bar - but when I then take it to work it looks a though I’m eating a whole 200g bar all to myself ! Grin

Just do it. With all my babies I used to eat peanut butter straight from the jar (at least half a jar) every morning until the sickly feeling went away. Whatever works!

nc8765 · 12/08/2021 08:06

I often eat chocolate for breakfast, pregnant or not. Delicious!

(Never had a weight issue before people start shouting at me).

LBirch02 · 12/08/2021 08:09

Peanut butter! Just goes to show it is a case of whatever works for you!

I lost a lot of weight last year but I’m quickly filling out!

farnworth · 12/08/2021 08:13

Great plan, perfect with strong tea 😁

KurtWilde · 12/08/2021 08:14

@nc8765 yeah I'm happy to admit I've had chocolate for breakfast tons of times, pregnant or not.

Growing up, my parents didn't really make breakfast, we were given a couple of biscuits, usually bourbons or custard cream. I never had a weight issue or a filling 🤷🏻‍♀️

EatYourVegetables · 12/08/2021 08:14

Never had a weight issue before - me neither, until baby 2 fat weight wouldn’t drop off, and then lockdown pounds joined it!! Don’t do it!! If there is one thing I could stop myself from doing in the past it’s all the sugar that I had when pregnant with DC2. I was looking after a toddler, working, pregnant, exhausted, and made it into a “cake a day” habit. I was not worried about the weight gain because the pounds from baby 1 just fell off me so I assumed the same would happen. Turns out, 9 mo of daily cake is a lot of sugar and the extra pounds stayed. Now I’m doing IF, low carb, and am slowly inching towards my old clothes. It is hard work and would have been much easier to NOT eat the bloody cake in the first place!!!

Bluntness100 · 12/08/2021 08:17

Honestly not to be a kill joy, I put on a shit ton of weight when pregnant, but the reality is when you habe the baby the weight stays there, so there is a downside.

Musication · 12/08/2021 08:19

Don't do this! You will come to regret it as it's hard to shift weight once you're busy with a baby.
What about crackers with some kind of spread if you can handle biscuits?

LBirch02 · 12/08/2021 08:19

That’s the thing - my jeans don’t fit - I’m on to elasticated waists already and feel I’ve got now got the start of a permanent ‘mum tum’ !

OP posts:
LBirch02 · 12/08/2021 08:20

Strong tea and dairy milk - lovely - crackers seem a healthier alternative!

Flobbertybillop · 12/08/2021 08:22

Do it! If you really want to get the baby weight off, you will.
I put 5 stone on with my first pregnancy, possibly due to my habit of melting a bar of chocolate into a hot chocolate and then dipping my croissant into it.
My reasoning was, I’ll never get the chance to be happily fat again so I enjoyed it, and then got back to it afterwards!

SingingInTheShithouse · 12/08/2021 08:22

I ate chocolate peanuts at 6.am as tw@t neighbour is wailing to the skies & woke me up, seems I deserved them not to shoot his frigging windows our with a rivet gun when the temptation was sooooo strong Grin

Honestly eat whatever works for you, I remember really struggling with food during pregnancy & whatever you can get down you is good

LBirch02 · 12/08/2021 08:28

Good to hear success stories about weight loss post baby!

I agree about pregnancy- if you can keep any good down it’s good!

YABU to eat Cadbury’s. Get some nicer chocolate. Aldi chocolate is good.

MinesAPintOfTea · 12/08/2021 08:45

I did it and got away with it weight-wise. But I also was so sick I lost a stone in the first trimester anyway. Plus I was on the underweight-healthy borderline at the start.

Shirleyphallus · 12/08/2021 08:58

Chocolate tastes best first thing in the morning

And it’s the best thing about being a grown up isn’t it? Chocolate for breakfast and no one to tell you no

LBirch02 · 12/08/2021 10:05

I’ll have to try Aldi chocolate I’m just a bit set in my ways with brands I think! And yes it’s the best part of being a grown up!

SprayedWithDettol · 12/08/2021 10:09

Lindt not Cadbury. Don’t give money to Kraft.

Manzanilla55 · 12/08/2021 10:24

People eat chocolate for breakfast in France and Belgium all the time.
It goes nicely with decent bread.

LBirch02 · 12/08/2021 10:56

Manzanilla - true - memories of Pain Au Chocolate!

OP posts:
miltonj · 12/08/2021 11:02

Absolutely do it!!

Likelihood is that you'll quickly loose all the baby weight anyway. And anything you can do to make life more manageable when pregnant should be done with enthusiasm!

SheABitSpicyToday · 12/08/2021 11:05

My diabetic husband does this every morning Grin
I always know he’s awake because I can hear the bag of wispa’s rustling next to the bed
