DP taking piss?

Had an urgent work assignment tonight which meant I would need to work most of night and just grab a few hours on sofa between 2 and 4.

DP normally goes to bed about 12. Tonight He sat downstairs on laptop and only made a move to start packing up and getting ready for bed about 2:15. Doors opening and closing, shutting down laptop lid, getting changed into night clothes, etc etc. Texted him at 2.45 to ask him to stop moving about.

Now 3.20 and I haven’t slept. He’s snoring upstairs. Why didn’t he just go to bed at a normal time rather than within my 2-hour window in the deepest middle of the night?!?! Envy

It was selfish of him, he could of been quieter and considerate to your needs. Partners can be bums at times!!!
Hope after posting this you can fall asleep.

Thanks @Naz2009 !

I think I’m too annoyed to sleep now!

@Bawse oh no, hate it when that happens. I was hoping after venting out your frustration you would be able to fall asleep.
As he is snoring away, you could "accidentally" slam a few doors!!

Bawse · 11/08/2021 03:45

Haha definitely tempted 🙈Wink

Thanks for the nice message, do feel better for having a (quiet) MN rant ! : )

That isn't good but there's something drastically wrong with your work life if you can only spare 2 hours to sleep. That needs fixing urgently.

It’s not at all the norm - I chose to take on the assignment knowing it would be very tight. The last time I chose to work hours like this was over a year ago. I’m self employed so both times my own (daft) choice.

Did you tell him at 1.45 to please go to bed? Maybe he was keeping you company?

PopcornMuncher · 11/08/2021 04:46

Oh I see. Did you manage to get some sleep in the end or will you be able to catch up some time today? I honestly don't know how you do it. I'm awake too due to insomnia but at least I'll be working with around 4 hours of sleep behind me!

Brefugee · 11/08/2021 07:23

I'd be banging around and tell him that he's a considerate arse and should be providing you coffee all day.

Brefugee · 11/08/2021 07:23

*inconsiderate

Strictly1 · 11/08/2021 07:48

None of what you listed sounds particularly inconsiderate- opening and closing doors, closing his laptop and getting undressed. Annoying yes, but hardly deliberate/inconsiderate.
I hope you got some sleep.

KatherineSiena · 11/08/2021 08:04

Of course it’s inconsiderate. He stayed up hours later than normal when he knows you’re working and then clatters around at 2/3am.

I think you need to do some early morning hoovering.

Bawse · 11/08/2021 11:27

I think he probably did think he’d keep me company a bit. He’s lovely really (mostly not at all inconsiderate) I just had the rage of banging and clattering ringing in my ears and the prospect/horror of getting up at 4 again with no sleep and working for another 4 hours. I was just like WHYYYYY ARE YOU DOING THIS Grin

He’s redeemed himself this morning by making coffee and buying us a posh takeaway breakfast. Although he insists he did nothing wrong, I forgive him Wink

Thanks for the very kind moral support ! Got the work in (ugh!) time for a nap now Grin
