Nhs dental treatment bands - anyone clued up?

Completely forgot to ask my dentist today as I was distracted as my kids were with me.

I went in for an emergency appointment with toothache today. I paid £23.80.

I was told that I will more than likely need my wisdom tooth removing and have been asked to go in later this week for a review once the X-rays have been reviewed by a specialist.

How does this work payment wise? Will I have to pay again?
The full band 2 cost? Pay the amount required to make up the amount to band 2?

Tooth extractions come under band 2 but I believe you should only be asked to pay once for any treatment needed depending on which band the treatments come under.

It depends on whether or not your dentist has claimed your emergency visit as a stand alone 1.2 UDA emergency charge, or as a Band 1 course of treatment. With the Band 1 you will only have to pay the difference between the Band 1 fee of £23.80 and the Band 2 fee of £65.20 if further treatment is required within two calendar months. If they have closed the course of treatment and have claimed the emergency fee then you will have to pay the full Band 2 fee of £65.20 when you go back.
Hope this helps...and I haven't made it too confusing!

Oh that seems a bit mean if they have done that instead of putting me on band 2 🙁 I can't really afford it atall never mind paying two band charges. I will phone them tomorrow and find out...
