"Her" being the shit pretend journo, Latoya Gayle (if thats even her real name) who steals threads from here to submit as articles for the Daily Mail. I hope they aren't paying her too much.

And actually this whole thread is a bit of an own goal, because I tried to name-change and didn't do it properly! Therefore, I am The Fuckwit here.

@Funnylittlefloozie

Er, no, I didn't post the dinner bill thread! I was poking about on the Mail Online website, and noticed that virtually all the articles that were lifted from Mumsnet were written by this woman. I would change my user name to something like LatoyaGayleIsShit!
You could do but makes you look even more petty than you already are.

Get a grip.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 10/08/2021 20:05

Sorry @LittleGwyneth but I really do think I recognise one of the local journos who is starting a thread every now and then. I noticed when 2 local issues made it here in quick succession and then spilled out to the local online rag.

It really annoys me. There are enough people here she could talk to if she got out of her office/city shoes and drove out here, into the boonies!

Funnylittlefloozie · 10/08/2021 20:08

I like being petty, and I'm now wondering if some of the snotty replies here are from lazy journos who are just miffed that someone pointed it out.

No idea who this woman is that the OP is complaining about but things lifted from forums like MN and Reddit are posted everywhere by online journo.

Whatever the in and outs of it, it's a pretty lazy way of getting copy.

I've had a really annoying and upsetting situation within my family that has been on going over the last six months or so and was so tempted to post about it on MN just to unload but it would have been very identifying if picked up by some journo or other so I didn't.

MN is not a closed group and before post you really have to think about the fact that you are potentially opening yourself up to a very public outing every time you post something that might possibly identify you.

Too late to complain once you've posted.

gardeninggirl68 · 10/08/2021 20:19

you've had zero 'snotty replies' here though?

Nitgel · 10/08/2021 20:20

Gosh mn has changed

LittleGwyneth · 10/08/2021 20:22

@CuriousaboutSamphire to be fair I worked on a national so I can't comment on what they do at locals. It was deff common to try and post links to your own stories on mumsnet to get more traffic though!

lavieengris · 10/08/2021 20:43

Oh, I know that they can do it, but I think it's hideously lazy journalism - if they tried a bit harder, they could find better things to write about.

I despair of what's happening to the industry. It's not just the crap copy, it's the lack of decent subeditors these days.
