...To buy a trampoline for teens

My kids have wanted a trampoline for years but we never had enough space.

Now we do have enough space- in fact a whole field- and they're still very keen on the idea. However they are 13 and 15 and DH thinks this is too old. I don't think it is- we also often have other children to stay.

Does anyone have any thoughts? We have enough space for a properly adult-sized one so that's not an issue.

This thread is quite old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for trampoline recommendations, we’ve recently updated our best trampolines page with lots of great options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users and their kids. We hope you find it useful.

get them one, why not I used to jump on the kids trampoline all the time, there is no age limit.

All I would say is make sure you get a well built one that has a high maximum weight, and also anchor it down.

I enjoyed trampolines until giving birth so I say go for it.

halesie · 09/08/2021 17:15

Yes agree, it's a good idea and great exercise. My DNs are 14 and 17 and still use theirs all the time.

Ducksurprise · 09/08/2021 17:16

As long as it is suitable for adults then go for it.

YANBU trampolines are fun and not all that expensive.

Mine are 14 and 16 and don't really use ours that much, although it was nice over lockdown. They still use it just about enough that I don't want to get rid, but we certainly wouldn't replace it at this stage if it broke.

My guess is you'd see a good summer use, maybe into the to the winter too. I imagine the novelty might have worn off by next year. Most people I know have passed theirs on now unless they have younger siblings or a huge garden.

I'm 52 and love a trampoline Blush

Buy it, they're great exercise.

Mine are 14, 12 and 9 and the older ones use the trampoline loads, the 14 year old especially and it is one thing that brings his teenage mates into our garden too and they hang out down there bouncing and chatting. Worth it's weight in gold. It broke recently and I bought another one almost straight away.

I went to a bbq at my friends and her (very cool) teens laid staring at the sky & chatting on the trampoline and were talking about sleeping on it for a sleepover that night.

My DD’s are 19 and 20 and still use it in summer - good exercise! I just can’t be bothered to take it down so fine with me. Got it when they were about 8 so I’ve had my monies worth

Brian9600 · 09/08/2021 17:29

Well, you've all convinced me- thank you!

Mine are 11 and 14, they use it every day, and sometimes I even go on too. Brilliant fun, and it’s good for them.

icedcoffees · 09/08/2021 17:34

Go for it! DH and I are in our thirties and bought one last summer Grin

MargaretThursday · 09/08/2021 17:51

My 14yo still enjoys his.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 09/08/2021 18:46

I would consider getting one if we moved and the DCs would be in their teens by then. I’d just be a bit worried about them doing too many tricks / injuries
