Sick DD

Yesterday afternoon DD got a temperature and complained of a sore tummy. At the time she was being looked after by GP's as I was working all day. After paracetamol her temp dropped a little but was still high.

This morning she woke up and said her tummy wasn't sore and when I checked her temp was normal. An hour or so later I noticed some spots on her shoulder and after checking the rest of her found more under her arms, on her stomach, back and the back of her legs, some are just red spots but the majority are blisters.

Since DD is contagious until all her blisters have healed I don't feel I can send her to any of her GP's (one is due an operation in a week that has been delayed many times due to covid and the other is helping with childcare for another family member who is having chemo).

I have no one else who would be able to care for DD why I worked so I have called and told them I would not be able to work this week why DD is contagious but have been made to feel guilty for leaving them short staffed why there are other members of staff isolating due to covid.

AIBU by taking the week of work to take care of DD until she is no longer contagious?

No yanbu. Your child is sick. Your GPs are at risk therefore you need to stay home and look after your child. Your work will just need to suck it up for now and get on with it. Life happens and better to have a few staff members huffing than put GPs op at risk. Im assuming you cant offer to work from home so you literally have no other option. Hope DD gets well soon and GPs op goes ok.

I agree completely. I hope she, and family members feel better soon.

No YANBU. Your employers are being very unreasonable. Ignore it.

Bless her, you are doing the right thing staying home.

My dad had a shingles flare up when DS1 caught chicken pox at nursery and it was really painful.

When DS1 got sent home from nursery with an ear infection (accompanied by a temp which only lasted a few hours) we all had to isolate until he got a covid test and negative result because he had a symptom (the temp, which even his GP said was ridiculous and clearly caused by the ear infection) but could you just tell work that she's had a temperature which is still considered a symptom so your household is now isolating and are awaiting a negative result which could take a few days to come in?
