So I am 6weeks post partum. To my horror I tried on a pair of wedges and could barely squeeze my feet in, no way I could wear them. Raging.
My feet were really swollen late pregnancy but I’m pretty certain all the fluid is now gone, defo got a good few stone to lose but AIBU to say my feet wil never be the same again? Refuse to buy bigger shoes.. will give it some time first ??

Mine never went back. I've been a size bigger for 13 years now...

OwlinaTree · 08/08/2021 21:16

I'd give it a bit longer. 6 weeks is no time at all after giving birth!

Ppf35 · 08/08/2021 21:21

I’m about half a size bigger after baby 2- was pregnant over a really hot summer and my feet were just massive. 6 weeks is no time though, you could easily go back to “normal”

TheVelvetOnion · 08/08/2021 21:23

I've had two kids and my feet are fine now. They were bloody huge during both pregnancies though! Give it some more time. Congratulations on your new baby Smile

Your lymphatic system is probably what's causing the problem. You have glands in your body and the closest for your legs is in your groin. The glands act as taps so you need to get the fluid to go back towards the tap.

When you sleep put your feet on a pillow, or whenever you sit try and get your legs up as much as possible.

Avoid being on your feet and when out where strong comfortable shoes which support the feet and ankles.

Also get a soft body brush and brush your skin lightly from your feet and ankles all the way up to your groin.

The heat wont help either so cool flannels on your feet

If you have a partner or a family member who can help get them to massage your feet pushing the fluid back up your leg.

I have lymphedema which means the lymphatic system doesn't work in one leg but all these things reduce swelling so I can wear normalish shoes. Summer months and hot weather is the worst. I avoid shoes at all costs and when pregnant I lived in flip flops

Nope. My feet grew a size as did my mums and both my sisters....

chipsandgin · 08/08/2021 21:27

I went up half a size with my first (nearly 18 years ago now so I’m guessing it’s not temporary!), this link explains it but basically yep, it’s permanent; but as a bonus you’ll get to buy new shoes!?

I went from a size 5 to a 6 during first pregnancy and never went back. Fortunately they haven’t continued to get bigger with subsequent pregnancies though!!

ImFree2doasiwant · 08/08/2021 21:30

I got very swollen feet in pregnancy. The best thingg about giving birth (after the baby, obvs....)was looking at my feet the next day and marvelling at hiw slim they were.

4.5yrs since my second child and my feet STILL don't fit into a standard size 6.

Motivateinmotion · 08/08/2021 21:32

5 years later and still a wide fit size 6 was previously a standard size 5

EveningOverRooftops · 08/08/2021 21:38

Buy the bigger, wider fit shoes and live your feet. My feet grew during pregnancy and nearly 15yrs later mine have skimmed down.

DroopyClematis · 08/08/2021 21:40

Used to be 5/5.5
Now a wide 6/6.5

My feet now look like they could catch prey!

FourTeaFallOut · 08/08/2021 21:42

Was a size 4.5, three kids later and I'm a 6.

nancydroo · 08/08/2021 22:42

No mine never went back after pregnancy. My feet look very wide in trainers. No delicate lady feet for me.
