I cannot believe this is real life. I think I may have bedbugs and I’m distraught about it

I have attached a picture of bites. Most of them are singular all around my body but mainly on my legs. None on arms/face
Does everyone agree they look like bug bites?? no pets so not fleas?

After a week of waking up itching it dawned on me on Friday after googling the bites and I havnt slept properly since. It’s giving me really bad anxiety and paranoia
I haven’t recently travelled I havnt a clue how this could just happen??

I’m waiting to cal the council in the morning so I can have someone come and do a pest investigation. Apparently it’s a very expensive job and very hard work to get rid of of it is them. Posting on here because there’s not a chance I can tell anybody in real life Atleast till it’s all over.

Can somebody please share their stories where they 100% thought bed bites but it turned out not to be????
4:30 and I’m on my second red large wine hoping it will act as a sedative

Bed bugs are really quite rare. Also very easy to spot, look in the seams of your mattress- they are easy to spot by eye. More likely you’ve just been bitten by something out and about. I accused the dog of bringing fleas into the house the other day (he hadn’t)! It’s so easy to jump to conclusions with these things but honestly bed bugs are quite unlikely Smile

Even if you don't have pets yourself, you can pick up fleas if an animal shares your outside space.

They don't look like bed bug bites to me. As others have said they're usually in a line really red and angry. Often on your hands/feet/face. And I think you'd have spotted smudges of dried blood/black spots. I really relate to your anxiety about them. I hope you can get some peace of mind.

I thought I had bed bugs - bites in a straight line, very similar to what I have experienced abroad that were definitely bed bugs.

It turned out to be carpet beetles, as mentioned by another pp upthread. They're not bites but a reaction to I think the larvae hair. Easy to get rid of by sprinkling diachoteamous earth around and hoovering a lot.

We had bed bugs once, throughout the whole flat.
Your bites don't look anything like bed bug bites so I wouldn't worry overly. More likely to be general bug bites.

Bed bugs are nasty bastards and we paid a private company to come out who also told us we had German cockroaches. Oh what a wonderful few days that was.
