I am always proper buzzing when I meet another northerner!
Pretty much start singing the blaydon races within minutes

Many years ago I went out on the piss on my birthday with a guy I knew who was from Northern Ireland. We were well alight when we got to a pub and my friend went to place an order at the bar.
A very drunk guy, also from Northern Ireland heard my friend and thought he was mocking him. Much shouting from this guy followed and my friend suggested they went outside.
They came back in singing songs from the “old country” and buying each other drinks.
We left them to it.

I met a fellow northerner the other day (in rural East Anglia). We ended up talking about where we went to school- in his case, just along from my gran’s house. It was a great chat (and yes, my accent reappeared briefly).

They’ll be rollin’ their caps by now! 🍺 🍺 🍺 🍺
