Just looking at this for a present would it be good for a visually impaired child? He loves books.

I think it would work pretty well for a visually impaired child. It’s very easy to use and would allow him to play stories and music. I think the characters are probably different enough that they could be identified by touch though have not tried this.

I just saw a advert for this and can't figure out the point of it. What does it do that an Alexa or tablet doesn't do?

Tonies are brilliant, especially the creative tonies where you can put your own content on. I’ve bought audio books from Audible and converted them to put on.

We went for a yoto as the book she ranges means it will last longer.

My 4 year old has one and both her and my 7 year old love it. I don't mind buying the tonies as it gives me something to add to birthdays and Christmases although I haven't worked out how to creative tonies work and they would enjoy that too - something else I need to do. Definitely recommend.

The book cards for Yoto are much cheaper - half to a third of the price

Only thing is that if the child can't differentiate between two cards (you don't say the extent of the visual impairment) then the tactile nature of Tonie characters would be better

Nothing but it is way more small children friendly. A 2 year old can understand and use it. In particular unsupervised. My 4 year old uses one in quiet time and if he can't sleep, I wouldn't leave a tablet in his room

I'd recommend the Yoto over the tonie, but they are both really good.

Sounds like a great pressie but depending on the impairment, large books could be fine too. My husband is partially sighted and can read (and could look at books as a tot)
