Do you get a “woosh” behind your eyes when tired?

I just assumed everyone did, but DP has never heard about it and I just googled and couldn’t find anything

Whenever I’m tired, I close my eyes and hear a loud “whoosh” that seems to come from behind my eyes. What is that?! Am I alone????

Yabu - No I don’t get woosh
Yanbu - yeh it’s normal!

I get a woosh when I close my eyes in a particular way but I've just worked out that I am looking up with my eyes closed and that causes it. If you look up as high as you can first (ie point your eyeballs up not your head) and then close your eyes then maybe you too will experience my woosh

JaneJeffer · 06/08/2021 22:20

I get it in bed before I fall asleep.

I also experience exploding head syndrome
I've only had this once. I was watching telly and the laptop was charging on the arm of the sofa beside me. I thought it had exploded. Frightened the life out of me!

contentedcake · 07/08/2021 00:30

Yep! Just kept doing it now to clarify it is what I'm doing!

CherryCoco · 07/08/2021 01:02

Yes! It's like your eyes are yawning!

JustJoinedRightNow · 07/08/2021 03:29

OP look up SCCD ear on Google and see if any of that fits your description. Never heard of it until I found out at 40 that I have it!

whatthejiggeries · 07/08/2021 10:28

This is really interesting. I get it if I have a moment of acute pain I had no idea why my ear vibrates when I had pain somewhere else

Jacopo · 07/08/2021 15:14

Thanks for this post, I didn’t realise this was an actual thing. Yes I can do this voluntarily and it doesn’t depend on closing my eyes.

I thought the "whoosh" was if you had high blood pressure, it's literally the blood ringing in your ears x
