Posting in AIBU cos I know you lot are good at critiquing and offering honest reliable feedback Grin

I've been looking at robot vacuums for a while now as I am sick to death of constantly sweeping/hoovering the house. Have 4dcs and honest to god, I can hoover the floor and an hour later it looks as if it's not been done in ages Hmm It wouldn't bother me too much except one of the kids has a dust allergy so we really need to keep on top of it.

Our floors are mostly wooden, bar a bit of carpet on the stairs and landing, which I don't mind doing with the regular hoover. I would love a robot vacuum that also has mop capabilities, I know it's not going to give a deep clean, but it would be great to deal with the daily stains and spills (again, thank you jam wielding, crumb-dropping children).

Been looking at Eufys but am open to other models. Budget not an issue because it's a big enough problem that I'll throw all the money necessary at it to make it go away. We don't have any hairy pets so don't need special hair sucking features.

I bought a Robit R3000 based on reviews from Amazon, for £99 after applying a voucher. Not sure what it's at now.

Not massively noisy, although wouldn't say it's ultra quiet as advertised. Normal suction is okay but you can set it to Max, and that is GREAT! Does well on carpet as well as wood and tiles. It just bumbles around quite happily, knows to stop if it senses a drop ie top stair. No wifi but you can set a scheduled clean time.

Doesn't mop though. I looked into ones that do, but gist from reviews seemed to be that they don't mop so much as just drag a damp cloth around - which would spread jam etc about beautifully. So decided to just go with this one and v pleased I did!

This is my one and it's fantastic. Really powerful and just picks up so much dirt I don't even know where it finds it. Also has mop function and can hoover and mop simultaneously. Has WiFi and can set scheduled cleans. Can use the app or remote control. I got it for £160 on prime day but it's worth full price imo.

Eufy 30c. Love it so much I have 2!

rookiemere · 06/08/2021 15:59

We had an Eufy and it was great. As it broke after 2 years I decided to upgrade to a much more expensive Roomba and I really wish I hadn't bothered.
It seems very sensitive and is forever getting wrapped up with phone cables and/or stopping. Plus replacement parts are pretty expensive. We may just be unlucky though with ours.

I have a Hosome one from Amazon - was quite cheap as I recall but got good reviews. It has a mop facility although I haven’t used it yet, but as a hoover it does a great job and much quieter than my old Neato one (although I suspect that one had a missing bearing or something that made it noisy in the end.)

I have tested 3 types of robot cleaner. Dyson, utterly useless. Fuzoto, works astonishingly well. A cheap £35 one just to see if it was viable and it is worse than the Dyson.
What I learned is this. You need to evaluate your home for suitability because unless you have large areas of open space the robot will disappoint. The Fuzoto or Fuzzy as we call it can easily navigate chair legs and under furniture, but it comes at a cost of battery charge and cleaning time.
The ideal floor is a hard, smooth surface. Stone slabs and lumpy pine floorboards, for example, weaken the brush and suction action. Carpet with any degree of raised pile will not clean well and quickly drain the battery.
I have laminate flooring throughout and 2 areas with unacceptable deep pile rugs. The robot cleans the laminate better than a manual Henry. In fact, if I clean the floor with Henry, Fuzzy's dust box is 1/3rd full with very fine dust and some fluff.
The idea of mopping as the robot cleans seems logical but it is just a moist cloth dragged behind the cleaner. It won't mop spills because it is a once pass operation by the robot. You spill it, you wipe it!
Here is a vid I made of Fuzzy. It has been modified by me to leave the rugs alone, though this isn't shown in the vid. I hope it helps you understand the limitations of a robot vacuum cleaner.
Fuzzy cleans every other day and I do a manual clean on first of month of skirting, lamps etc, but not dusting. My wife prefers to do that.

I have two eufys - a G30 downstairs which has navigation and a 30C upstairs which bounces about. We got the upstairs one first, but have been happy with both and have recommended them to friends.

TokyoSushi · 06/08/2021 16:41

We have a Eufy 30C, its fabulous, it really improves the cleanliness of the whole house.

MiaowMiaow99 · 06/08/2021 18:01

We've bought the Ecovacs from Amazon. They were on an offer so approx 130 each and are amazing. They do get stuck so I cant put them on while we're out but nice to have the hoovering underway while I get on with other jobs.

Stanlie · 06/08/2021 18:13

Don't get a Roomba. Ours is a useless areshole

PrivateParty · 06/08/2021 20:05

We have a Eufy 30C Max. It's good. We like it. Don't have any experience of other brands though..

RBKB · 06/08/2021 20:08

Ecovacs Ozmo 920. Mops too. Is brilliant.

ConsuelaHammock · 06/08/2021 20:21

I have a Eufy and I love it. I bought my mum and dad one for Christmas and 3 of my siblings have bought one too. Oh and 3 friends. I wish was getting commission.

Wowwellokthen · 09/08/2021 10:48

I just got a bagotte from Amazon...£70 off yesterday! It is currently vacuuming the kitchen whilst I mumsnet....it is good so far....I have two teens and three cats...it picks up most of the hair and fluff.

I bought a Eufy three years ago. I was so fed up of cleaning floors every day. I have white tiles downstairs and they look lovely when clean and a disaster when bits are dropped on them. Honesty, it’s a game changer.

I love it so much that I now have 3 of them! They are my little cleaning army. I have one 15c and two 30c. If one broke, I would replace it immediately. The 30c was about £170 on Amazon with a voucher.

Musmerian · 09/08/2021 11:12

I bought a Eufy after reading lots of threads on here and it’s fantastic. We do have wooden floors and pets and most of what it picks up is fluff and fur. It’s so easy to just stick it on and let it get on with it and my house looks so much cleaner as I could never be arsed to lug the Henry around regularly enough.

Nahthatsnoton · 09/08/2021 11:22

I like my Roomba as it is great for pet hair.

BarbaraWoodlouse · 09/08/2021 11:26

I’ve returned Roomba and Eufy over the years but LOVE my Roborock S5.

The mop isn’t enough for a proper clean but certainly helps keep on top of things and it maps a proper path rather than bumbling annoyingly around the room.
