To get a free carer's ticket?

Looking at booking tickets for a day out for DS1's bday, they have free carers tickets. DS2 is 3 and receives DLA. Does this mean we could get a free carer's ticket for me or DH or is it aimed at adults who need a carer?
Obviously a 3 year old would need an adult with them regardless of any disabilities, so not sure if it's allowed or even if it is whether it would be morally wrong?

If you don't get PIP or DLA you can take a child's ECHP as proof a letter from the GP or consultant and sometimes a disabled persons freedom pass.

We have just started taking advantage of this as DS receives DLA. It does feel odd to start with- I guess because he doesn't 'look' disabled, I feel a bit conscious.

Just be sure to check what evidence you'll need in advance. Most seem to accept a DLA letter or similar- but I've come across some who only accept a carers allowance entitlement letter (so if you're not entitled to carers allowance due to earnings or because your child gets lower rate DLA, you can't use a carer ticket.) Also saw one place that would only allow a free carer ticket if the child received high rate mobility DLA, and another that would only accept a letter from a GP written less than a year ago.

This is the Max Card scheme for anyone who could use it. With this card you don't need a DLA/carers letter as the card is your proof.

I work for a museum and we offer this. I'd definitely say go for it. Especially for venues without a limited number of spaces available eg a theatre it's not actually costing them anything. At most it's the price of the ticket you would have paid for. But in many cases people wouldn't pay for a full adult ticket as they wouldn't bother as it's not good value for money if you're actually just spending the day caring for somone.
