Basically that. Don’t know much about it but seen a lovely holiday let so just checking what the area’s like? Would just like somewhere pretty and with drives out to nice places. Thank you!

He gods. I have a lump in my chest just thinking about it all now.

simbobs · 04/08/2021 14:01

Truly lovely place. There is car parking if you know where to look. Google The Rectory. You should be able to buy a weekly ticket. The streets are pedestrianised between 9 and 4 so if you have parking close to accommodation you can't move the car during those hours. There are plenty of places to visit nearby, but if you are a beach lover you may not want to go anywhere else.

Sparklingbrook · 04/08/2021 14:05

Barafundle Bay was the beach Mum and Dad liked the best.

LittleGwyneth · 04/08/2021 14:27

Probably v busy at the moment but such a lovely, underrated place.

Crowtooyo · 04/08/2021 14:36

Absolutely love Tenby. I prefer Pembrokeshire beaches to Cornwall and thats saying something as Cornwall is stunning.

Loads of places to eat there, but I would book to avoid disappointment. It gets busy but that's testament to how beautiful it is. You can also walk to Saundersfoot from Tenby or if walking too far, there are good bus links. If you've got young kids then folly farm is a must but there are LOADS of attractions for various ages of kids. Oakwood, Heatherton, Anna's wildlife, bluestone swimming etc... but even the beach is lovely in Tenby if you didn't want to do full days out.

Somethingsnappy · 04/08/2021 15:10

Even if the town itself is too busy for you, the area is very beautiful with loads to do.

Noshowlomo · 04/08/2021 15:12

One of my favourite places in the world. Going mid Sep. Go to Carew Castle if you can- 10 min drive from Tenby but worth it. It’s all so beautiful.

DeathByWalkies · 04/08/2021 15:17

It's a really pretty part of the world. When I went on a day trip we unfortunately didn't have time for Caldey Island but that looks fantastic too caldeyislandwales.com/

Hagqueen · 04/08/2021 15:26

Good luck, i’m from the area, beautiful but rammed to the gills 😂

afrikat · 04/08/2021 15:27

We went for a day trip last week and absolutely loved it there, immediately started looking at holiday lets for the future. Would definitely go for it

RampantIvy · 04/08/2021 15:31

Loved Tenby when we went 10 years ago. As long as your accommodation has parking you will be fine. I had to get up early every morning to feed the pay and display meter because we had no parking.

ExplodingCarrots · 04/08/2021 15:41

Local here. If you're planning to come imminently I would warn you that Tenby is very busy at the moment. The most busy I've ever seen it. I took one look at the high street and went home Grin
If you're going to be exploring the surrounding areas most of the time then you can avoid some of the big crowds. Car parking in a lot of beauty spots fill up quickly so you have to be quite organised . There is plenty to do and loads of lovely places to visit . Barafundle , folly farm, bosherston etc

IgnoranceIsStrength · 04/08/2021 15:44

With regards the supermarket the Sainsburys was half empty last week when we were there (staying somewhere quieter so just popped for a few hrs after Manor Park). Honestly empty shelves everywhere and very restricted choice. I felt sorry for the locals really.

Mirrorxx · 04/08/2021 15:48

Cwl box in tenby is a great place to eat

Christmasbird · 04/08/2021 15:48

I live very close, its a beautiful place and if you've been lucky enough to find accommodation this late in the season then I'd go for it. The whole county is magical if the sun is shining

CaveMum · 04/08/2021 15:52

We’re off to Pembroke tomorrow! We’ve got visits to Pembroke Castle, Folly Farm and the Dinosaur Park booked as well as planned trips to the beach and walks at places like Llys y Fran country park.

Have t done much about booking for food yet but there are loads of takeaways and a few pubs within a few minutes walk of where we are staying.

user1471428785 · 04/08/2021 15:57

Went in 2019 and really enjoyed it. There is also a large village called Narbarth a few miles inland- not far, maybe 4/5 miles which is a lovely place with nice coffee shops, deli and restaurants. Wasn’t so keen on Saundersfoot as not much there but there’s loads of attractions fairly near by.

cervixuser · 04/08/2021 16:01

there are some lovely restaurants in Tenby - they've upped their game considerably. Lovely beaches, great walking and nice vibes

Mirrorxx · 04/08/2021 16:18

@user1471428785 narberth is great. Fire and ice does great sorbet and madtom seafood is always good

CounsellorTroi · 04/08/2021 16:23

Tenby is beautiful, two huge beaches, but it gets very busy in summer. Nearby Saundersfoot might be a better bet?

Pieceofpurplesky · 04/08/2021 16:25

Tenby is fab. Ignore those saying they went years ago and there was nowhere to eat! There are loads of places.
My favourites are ...
The Blue Ball (expensive but lovely)
The Billy Can
The Fat Seagull
The Sandbar
Top Joe's
Indie Burger
The Buccaneer pub.

Loads of takeaways and fish and chips too.

Lots of places to visit - I love the walk around Bosherston Lily ponds and a swim in the sea half way round. Can't wait to be back in October

Daydrambeliever · 04/08/2021 16:28

Saundersfoot is a bit less busy but is close enough to Tenby for you to visit. We didn't find parking a problem. There's a massive carpark near the harbour which had loads of spaces in July. Eating out is a bit hit and miss. But lots of lovely coastal villages, great walks, amazing beaches to cater for everyone (kiting, kayaking, swimming, surfing, and just good old fashioned sandcastles).

YanTanTethera123 · 04/08/2021 16:29

It’s rammed in high season but lovely at other times. I don’t like crowds so unless it was mid/end September I would look elsewhere!

hagausb · 04/08/2021 16:31

Just back from Tenby and it was great but very busy! You will struggle to eat out in the evenings if you haven't booked and many places not taking bookings due to no shows so you will have to queue

The fat seagull was lovely .. crab and prawn linguine was divine

There were queues everywhere for takeaway chips and pasties abs to get into the local Tesco

I would suggest you take some plan b food if you go self catering in case you can't get takeaway

Also top Joe's pizza was good

Moonflower12 · 04/08/2021 16:37

I love Tenby. Some of my happiest memories are there. My cousins lived there and my uncle was the coxswain of the lifeboat.
Hence we spent a lot of time there. It is beautiful.
There are lots of things to do.
In fact I'm going to look for somewhere or half term. Thank you OP.
