To take the empty pushchair shopping?

As a precursor to this rather mundane dilemma Wink I don't drive

Twice a week I drop DD at nursery for the afternoon, walk the mile home then walk another mile into town for food shopping. When I'm finished, I either get a taxi home or walk the mile, mostly up a steep hill, with the shopping. Taking the pushchair home is cutting into my valuable time to get anything done!

WIBU to just take the empty pushchair to town with me, fill it with shopping and push it home or will people think I've left my baby behind somewhere Blush I know I could order online but I find fresh stuff keeps going out of date too quickly

I've been out a few times with an empty buggy to collect my child from other peoples houses etc because I don't drive. Honestly nobodys ever questioned it I don't think strangers care as much as we think they do sometimes. If anybody did make a remark I would simply say I was on my way to collect my child..

I used to do this because nursery would only allow little fold up strollers to be left there. Every now and then some twat would make a hilarious joke about me having forgot the baby.

Draw a face on a bucket and put that in

Sadly no space to store buggies at nursery, it's quite a small place but she absolutely loves it there so I'd never move her!

I love the idea about the creepy homemade doll, might make one and leave it in there for MIL to find next time she comes round to make barbed comments about my parenting Wink glad to see that most think I should just say fuck it and take the pushchair with me as that's obviously the most convenient thing to do.

Hope to drive in the future but it's something for various reasons I've got a lot of fear about- it would make my life easier but it's not as straightforward as just booking some lessons for me. In the meantime, I'll be loading the pushchair with shopping when DD isn't in it Smile

You'll get some smart alecs telling you that you've forgotten something, but apart from that I doubt people will notice, not like your taking up space on the bus with it!

SmokedPaprikaHotChilliPowder · 02/08/2021 14:33

I do this all the time. Felt like a right twat for ages. But whatevs. I do get the odd comment 'have you forgotten your baby?' Which is just oh so funny ... but I get the comments even when I'm not popping to the shops after drop off.

Filling the pram seems a good idea. I've taken a small, rolling suitcase to a market once to fill with fruit/veg.

Any reason you don't catch a bus?

Of course do this. It wouldn’t cross my mind that baby had been forgotten. It would be similar to a shopping trolley

SchrodingersMat · 02/08/2021 14:33

I do this all the time, never occurred to me not to. DC hasn’t used the buggy for a year or so now but I’m hanging onto it because it makes me feel more youthful than using a granny-ish shopping trolley Grin
