People using phones in cinema

Went to see a film yesterday, at least 3 people in there were checking their phones regularly throughout the film

What has happened to people that they now can't sit and watch 2 hr film without getting their phone out every 15 minutes and checking FB etc? Seriously?!?

It winds me up so much and its so distracting from the film

Just to add I have no problems with telling people in my immediate area to put their phone away (and I do regularly!!!) but these were spread out further down.Which I guess makes a change as I'm usually like a magnet and they end up sitting next to me Angry

@GreenTortoise

You can't police other people's phone. As long as the brightness is somewhat down then who cares. They could've found the film utter shite so went on their phone.
Look, if their attention span is so shot by their phone addiction that they can’t cope with a two hour film without having to look at their phone, maybe just don’t go to the cinema? And if the film is shit, just leave!

@Mrgrinch

Perhaps the film was boring?
Then perhaps they can leave instead of being inconsiderate twats?

My son is 15 and he volunteers in our local independent cinema. He has to ask at least 2 adults per screening to please put their phone away.

YANBU.

It's incredibly distracting. If people need to use their phones, they should leave the screen to do so.
