Sorry, I know. But my elderly parents, a million miles away, living by DM sound bites, and conspiracy theories are scaring me.

My dad has had an itchy rash, allegedly since his second vaccine, which has spread. GPs keep telling him take antihistamines.

This morning he woke up to this in pic. Luckily the internetz is telling mum it’s something ‘they’ aren’t telling us, and EVERYONE they know has it. She’s treating it with god fucking knows what, snake eye and cat dollop, and it’s looking better tonight. Anyone medical have a clue what it might be to convince them or convince me to calm down?

Shingles? Has he seen a doctor or just spoken to them?

FenceSplinters · 01/08/2021 22:52

Those blisters look like a reaction from a poisonous plant! You know those pictures that do the round every year of the little girl who go blisters from a plant?

Bunnyfuller · 01/08/2021 22:55

The rash has been going on months. The blisters do not look like shingles.

Looks like blisters from Hogweed plant, best to have them call a GP

Giant Hogweed, yes they are similar but it would be unusual for them to just be on the feet.
Shehasadiamondinthesky · 01/08/2021 22:56

Its impossible to tell what it is without a proper examination and a full medical history.
Could be anything from an allergic reaction to sepsis.
He needs proper medical advice. I'd consider going to minor injuries.

LaraDecouvrie · 01/08/2021 22:56

I had horsefly bites that looked like them. Defo go to the Gp again

Veryverycalmnow · 01/08/2021 23:01

Get them to the doctors!

Mollymalone123 · 01/08/2021 23:04

There is a type of eczema-bullous? I can’t remember-sorry! But he needs to see a dr

AnyFucker · 01/08/2021 23:05

Theunamedcat · 01/08/2021 23:07

Bunnyfuller · 01/08/2021 23:11

Guys - my OP said - he’s seen the doctor several times! They keep telling him to take antihistamines, the blisters came up suddenly, when he woke up Sunday morning. He hadn’t been anywhere in the fields barefoot, he’s fucking 80!

TSSDNCOP · 01/08/2021 23:13

Poor DF. Could you email the pictures to the GP
In the morning?

GoddamnCars · 01/08/2021 23:14

Bullus pemphigoid?

Mummyrowland · 01/08/2021 23:18

If docs aren't doing anything take him to hospital esp if you know a minor injuries walk in

Theunamedcat · 01/08/2021 23:20

He can still get bitten in the house doesnt have to be a field

MySecretHistory · 01/08/2021 23:20

I had very significant rashes post AZ vaccine.

Did have blisters but smaller than in that picture, went on for weeks if not a couple of months. Thos blisters look very like a woman who was hospitalised- it was seeing her picture made me go to the GP.

GP tried antihistamines, fungal cream, steroid creme, clobetasol

I was told by GP if they itched it must be fungal and I started using spray lamisil. They did go- just a couple left now and jab was in March. Not sure if any treatment helped or if they just went down.

Bunnyfuller · 01/08/2021 23:24

@MySecretHistory he’s had an itchy rash since about March after his second jab, started small and spread, then this suddenly today

The bruise on the knee could be Bateman’s purpura but there are other similar conditions that need to be seen by medical staff;
www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/318805#causes-and-risk-factors

The blisters on the foot look like Rue rash. If he has come into contact with rue and then walked around in the sunshine, it can cause a reaction like that.
There are also meds that can cause a reaction with sunlight and if you take them you are supposed to keep covered up.

Bunnyfuller · 01/08/2021 23:28

Thanks @Thelnebriati the history doesn’t fit for those.

I think it’s the bullous pemphigoid, fits exactly.

Do your parents live in the UK, or literally millions of miles away in another country?

Teaseall · 01/08/2021 23:32

I'm definitely not medically trained but I do have ridiculously sensitive skin, those blisters look very much like ones I get from insect bites. They can be more severe if I've been abroad (sob! 😢) but I also occasionally get bad reactions from midges in the garden at home, in fact I've got an itchy bump on my leg from recklessly sticking my leg out of the covers last night.
Damp, warm conditions always bring the biting critters out in the hunt for my flesh. Get rid of any standing water near the house if possible.
A daily antihistamine and hydrocortisone ointment are my go to's but he needs to be really careful about the blisters bursting and getting infected.

Not really, it tends to progress very quickly.
