Constant cross selling

Okay I know it's a small thing in the grand scheme in things, but anyone else annoyed by the constant barrage of cross selling ? By which I mean you buy a product or service, and asked if you want to buy other services (for which the original sales usually gets a commission).

I'm in the middle of moving house (buying and selling). Literally everyone along the process has been wanting to flog other stuff. My estate agent - can we put you in touch with our mortgage broker / solicitor / moving people? Seller's agent - the same, plus do I need a surveyor? Mortgage company - can we try and flog you life insurance and home insurance? Etc etc.

I bought a new car recently and the same, do I want this and that upgrade and this and that extra protection policy.

Even when buying something online like an electrical product, a pop up to buy additional products and extended warranties. And let's not forgot the legendary AO calling to try and flog them to you...

I get that the salespeople are often incentivised and use it to get commission etc. But it just feels like I can't just buy something without expecting a whole heap of extra stuff I just really don't want.

Just keep on repeating no

I think getting recommendations is valuable. If the agents recommend a solicitor and you decide to use them, then great the agent may be able to,apply pressure if needed.

Mortgage broker will have access to deals that you won't, advising life assurance is a sensible option, they'll be able to advise on trusts etc.

Not sure what your problems are? You'll need a removal company presumably?

If you don't just say no thanks and move on.

It doesn't bother me. Sometimes it's really helpful. I don't like being up sold so much because I usually now exactly what I want when buying something. Nobody's ever pressurised me though, and when I say no thanks, they just move on.

The one that annoys me the most is when you want to do something at the bank that could perfectly well be done at the counter or over the phone but they insist on you having an appointment with a salesperson so they can ask about your finances and try to flog other products.
