What's cheaper to cook from scratch and what's cheaper to buy ready made?

I guess i mean more economival overall in terms of the time needed as well? Im batch cooking for next term and really questioning the value of baking all of these goodies. Im sure i could fill the cupboards cheaper on a trip around a supermarket.

I make batches of this tomato sauce, practically effortless to cook and I just blitz it with the hand blender at the end. You can add whatever you want to it, it works for many dishes. Don’t skimp on the butter, it’s needed for the magic.

For me it’s not about cost as much as freshness, nutritional value and taste. For nearly everything homemade is better, unless it’s a challenge or fuss to make.
