Deep Splinter

Sorry - I am posting for traffic!

DD has a very deep splinter in the heel of her foot. Can't get near it with tweezers or a needle.

Does anyone have any ideas at all?

Soak in the bath till she's pruny. Soak in a separate bowl of salty water. See how it goes after that

Magnesium sulphate paste (at chemists) twice per day.
You could book in with the practice nurse at your local GP surgery. They may be able to help.

Soak it for a long long time the foot will get so pruney and squidgy you should be able to get it

You need to keep the area soggy.

I covered a deep splinter with a plaster covered in antiseptic cream. I kept reapplying the cream. After a couple of days the skin was so soft the splinter just slid right out. I've not used magnesium sulphate paste but I know it's recommended for splinters.

Walk in centre gave you a hydrocolloid dressing which acts as a suction plaster. Think you can buy those dressings in pharmacies

Emla cream to numb the area, then try with tweezers and don't let her watch. Bribe her with the best game / tv prog on offer to stay still.

I'd also recommend magnesium sulphate paste.

Get skin soggy and wrinkly then see if you can use a calpol syringe to create negative pressure and suck it out
